Junior Technical Office Engineer – Aluminum & Facade
Job Purpose
To support the Technical Office team in the engineering, detailing, and technical coordination of aluminum and façade projects, ensuring accurate shop drawings, material calculations, technical documentation, and effective coordination between the Technical Office, Production, Procurement, and Site teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Drawings & Engineering
- Prepare and modify detailed shop drawings for aluminum doors, windows, curtain walls, louvers, and façade systems.- Review architectural, structural, and tender drawings to understand project requirements.- Develop detailed sections, elevations, plans, and construction details under the supervision of senior engineers.- Ensure drawings comply with approved designs, project specifications, and applicable technical standards.- Incorporate consultant and client comments and maintain proper drawing revisions.
2. Quantity Take-Off & Material Calculation
- Prepare accurate material take-offs (MTO) for aluminum profiles, glass, accessories, hardware, and related materials.- Assist in preparing cutting lists and fabrication requirements.- Compare quantities between tender, approved drawings, and actual project requirements.- Coordinate with Procurement and Production to ensure materials are properly identified and quantified.
3. Technical Coordination
- Coordinate with Site Engineers, Production, Procurement, Planning, and Project Engineers to resolve technical issues.- Provide technical clarification to production and site teams when required.- Identify discrepancies or conflicts between architectural drawings, shop drawings, and site conditions.- Support the team in finding practical and cost-effective technical solutions.
4. Project Documentation
- Prepare and maintain technical submittals, material submittals, drawing registers, revision records, and other project documentation.- Follow up on drawing submissions, approvals, and consultant/client comments.- Assist in preparing as-built drawings based on actual site execution.- Maintain organized technical files and ensure proper document control.
5. Production & Site Support
- Coordinate with Production to ensure approved drawings are suitable for fabrication.- Support Site Engineers during installation by providing approved drawings and technical information.- Review site measurements and assist in updating drawings when required.- Participate in resolving technical issues arising during fabrication and installation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Architectural, or Mechanical Engineering.- 1-3 years of experience in Technical Office Engineering.- Fresh graduates with strong technical skills and relevant training/projects are welcome.- Previous experience in Aluminum, Curtain Wall, Facades, Windows, Doors, or Construction is highly preferred.- Good command of Auto CAD.- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.- Ability to read and understand architectural and engineering drawings.
Preferred Technical Skills
- Knowledge of aluminum profiles and façade systems.- Basic understanding of aluminum fabrication and installation.- Knowledge of curtain wall, structural glazing, windows, doors, and façade details.- Basic experience in MTO and quantity calculations.- Knowledge of Revit or other engineering/design software is an advantage.
