Summary of the work:

Performs diagnostics, repairs and reassemblies of engine-related products in a maintenance workshop, under limited supervision.

Main responsibilities:

Uses established procedures and policies effectively to perform complex repairs, including identifying and preparing the necessary parts and tools.

Disassemble, inspect, clean and reassemble engines and/or engine components

Performs preventative maintenance based on engine assessment

Assists more experienced technicians in performing diagnostics and developing engine repair plans in the workshop

Complete the required documents such as service sheets, attendance sheets, warranty claims and quality-related documents on handwritten forms or via the company's system data entry screens.

Complete the online training with the required professional skills and qualifications.

Maintains the cleanliness and proper functioning of the workspace and tools

Comply with all applicable health, safety, and environmental procedures, policies, and legislation, and notify their supervisor of any problems or incidents.

Diagnostics application - Translates customer complaints; troubleshoots problems by following guided workflows and procedures and using specialized tools, and identifies faulty software modules; validates the repair by reproducing the problem to test that it has been fixed; documents the results of the repair in the systems to communicate the actions taken for payment and incident tracking purposes over time.

Application of electronic service tools - Identifies the range of available hardware and software tools required for a service event; uses appropriate electronic tools to maintain product viability or to diagnose or troubleshoot it; interprets the results or recommendations of these tools to determine the next steps in resolving the event.

Interactions with engine systems - Interprets and analyzes the relationships between internal and external electrical and mechanical systems (exhaust, heating, cooling, fuel systems, transmission, aftertreatment, controls, sensors, etc.) using tools and service publications (from Cummins and the original equipment manufacturer) and taking steps to diagnose and repair effectively and correctly.

Product Repair and Maintenance - Repairs and maintains mechanical/electrical products within standard repair times to ensure quality repair; disassembles and assembles engines or generator sets following guidelines to ensure a clean and organized environment; inspects and replaces parts and components according to reuse guidelines to minimize customer ownership costs; performs progressive checks to restore to pre-failure condition.

Maintenance documentation - Creates and verifies technical information and information on equipment and customers; captures specific data using the required service tools; follows procedures and documents the necessary information in the management system so as to have good visibility on the work undertaken.

Technical Escalation - Obtains information on technical product issues and utilizes available resources, including data management tools; escalates issues to a higher level of expertise by matching customer response time with investigation efforts; captures problem resolution steps in the appropriate database to ensure consistent transitions and timely resolution.

Training courses, diplomas, certifications:

Qualified apprentice engine technician (preferred)

Professional diploma from a competent technical institution

Local driver's license (preferred)

This position may require a license to comply with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Intermediate level of knowledge and/or experience regarding engine-related products

Education/ Experience:

Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)

Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution

Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)

Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products

Relevant experience in HHP engine rebuilds.
