Job Summary
Senior Investment Analyst – Project Development – Transport & ICT – Casablanca Morocco
Our client is a pan-African infrastructure investor and asset manager established to help bridge Africa's infrastructure gap by developing financing and investing in bankable projects mobilizing public and private capital and accelerating the delivery of sustainable infrastructure.
Their Project Development Fund operates at the front end of the investment cycle. It works with governments public authorities sponsors developers lenders investors and technical partners to originate structure de-risk and advance projects toward investment readiness and financial close. Within Project Development Fund the Transport and ICT vertical focuses on transport logistics and digital infrastructure including roads bridges railways ports airports urban mobility e-mobility logistics platforms regional corridors digital connectivity data centres telecommunications infrastructure fibre networks and other ICT-enabled infrastructure as well as infrastructure asset recycling.

Purpose of the Role:
The Senior Investment Analyst role is to contribute to the investment team by providing high-quality financial modelling investment analysis research and transaction support to enable sound investment decisions. The role is expected to independently own complex analysis and defined transaction workstreams assess structuring options coordinate due diligence develop investment recommendations and support the execution of bankable projects.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Build own and maintain complex project finance models including sensitivity analyses cash flow projections and scenario modelling.
- Analyse key project assumptions capital structures financing requirements returns and risks and develop recommendations on project economics and investment structuring.
- Support the screening of new opportunities against the clients mandate and risk-return requirements.
- Assess project development and investment opportunities and recommend appropriate structuring options.
- Conduct sector country market company sponsor and policy research to identify/assess investment opportunities.
- Review project and transaction documentation and independently assess key commercial financial contractual and risk considerations escalating material issues and developing recommendations as appropriate.
- Participate in all aspects of the clients project processing cycle from project development and structuring through investment approval financial close and disbursement with ownership of defined transaction workstreams and a focus on achieving bankable projects.
- Coordinate due diligence processes across financial technical commercial legal and ESG workstreams including managing adviser deliverables reviewing outputs identifying key risks and mitigants and following up on outstanding matters.
- Support negotiations and stakeholder discussions with public authorities sponsors co-developers contractors operators lenders DFIs and other investors.
- Prepare project-related documents for internal stakeholders (IC memorandums briefing notes board notes etc.) and external audiences (Ministerial briefing notes MoUs Investment proposals etc.).
- Assist in supervising approved projects and portfolio companies including monitoring financial and operational performance investment risks business plans and other relevant matters.
- Support the investment team in non-core investment activities (marketing corporate initiatives recruitment etc.).
Candidate Profile:
- Three (3) to five (5) years’ prior experience in infrastructure project development and/or project finance within:
- project finance / infrastructure / international investment bank / private equity with exposure to infrastructure sectors
- project or business development department of a power IPP or developer
- infrastructure department in a Development Finance Institution
- infrastructure / PPP department of a transaction / financial advisory firm
- infrastructure private equity fund with exposure to early to mid-stage project development
- Bachelor’s degree from a university/Business school/Engineering school. MBA or MSc would be a plus.
Knowledge Skills and Experience:
- Interest in the client's mission strategy and values
- Strong connection to Africa and intent to have Africa-focused career
- Good understanding of the ICT and transport sectors
- Strong understanding of PPP project structuring and project finance
- Strong business development and client relationship skills track record and ability to focus on clients’ needs effectively and identify potential business partners
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in French is a plus.
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven experience in financial modelling and valuation drafting investment memorandum and supporting deal processes.
- Strong inter-personal skills ability to interact effectively with sponsors partners and colleagues from various cultural backgrounds; living experience in emerging countries is a plus
- Prior knowledge of African infrastructure and relationships in Africa are a strong plus
