First Commis Pastry

About the Role
Le Meridien is seeking a First Commis Pastry to join their team. This full-time role involves preparing a variety of baked goods and pastries, ensuring adherence to quality standards and food safety protocols. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of related work experience.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare breads and pastries, including doughs, fillings, proofing, baking, and decorating.
Review production sheets to understand daily baked goods requirements.
Prepare and cook food according to established recipes, quality, and presentation standards.
Maintain kitchen logs for food safety program compliance and report excess food items to the Chef.
Safely and appropriately use baking and measuring tools, equipment, and appliances.
Ensure compliance with food safety handling policies, including personal hygiene procedures.
Monitor and ensure correct temperatures of kitchen appliances and food, reporting issues to management.
Oversee the quality of food prepared and portions served throughout the shift.

Team Leadership and Compliance

Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees.
Serve as a role model and mentor within the department.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety and security guidelines.
Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to management and complete required safety training.
Maintain a clean and professional uniform and personal appearance.
Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
Communicate professionally and develop positive working relationships with colleagues.
Handle sensitive issues with tact, respect, and confidentiality.

Physical Requirements

Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
Capability to move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces.
Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Education: Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree.
Experience: At least 2 years of related work experience.
Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience is required for this role.

Additional Duties
The First Commis Pastry will perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors to support the efficient operation of the kitchen.
