About the Role: Inventory Planner

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an experienced Inventory Planner to join the SPM Oil & Gas parts business. This full-time role is critical for ensuring optimal inventory availability, minimizing stock shortages, and enhancing overall inventory control to support revenue generation and customer satisfaction. The position requires 4 years of relevant experience.

Role Context and Impact

The Inventory Planner will be responsible for inventory planning, forecasting, demand management, stock optimization, and ERP-driven inventory control across multiple customer and operational sites. Success in this role will lead to improved inventory visibility, reduced stock-outs, enhanced forecast accuracy, and increased parts availability to meet customer demand and support revenue growth. The role involves close collaboration with sales, operations, supply chain, and customer-facing teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability while minimizing excess inventory.
• Monitor, analyze, and maintain inventory accuracy using ERP systems.
• Support parts sales activities by ensuring timely availability of critical SPM Oil & Gas components.
• Develop and maintain forecasting and demand planning models to support business requirements.
• Identify stock shortages, excess inventory, and supply risks, implementing corrective actions as required.
• Generate inventory reports and provide recommendations to improve stock control and inventory performance.
• Coordinate with supply chain, procurement, warehousing, and operations teams for efficient inventory replenishment.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies and drive root cause analyses to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure compliance with internal inventory control procedures and best practices.
• Communicate inventory status, risks, and recommendations to key stakeholders.
• Travel to multiple customer and operational sites as required.

Required Experience

• Minimum 4 years of experience in inventory planning or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience with inventory planning, forecasting, and demand management.
• Proficiency in ERP systems for inventory control and data management.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with sales, operations, and supply chain teams.
