Summary:

The Process Operator will work in a status of the art sugar refinery in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia

The incumbent will operate assigned equipment or areas of the plant and perform operations related activities per the work process, utilize chemical manufacturing knowledge and experience to operate and troubleshoot the plant in a safe and efficient manner, work in a team environment where individuals often set priorities and complete work activities with minimal supervision.

Duties and Responsiblities:

• Follow Operating Discipline principles, procedures and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas
• Operate Pans, evaporation and Centrifugals from DCS and field.
• Operate and field check process equipment
• Monitor process conditions, equipment and control systems
• Perform tasks assigned to operations as per a standard task list including field checks, equipment preparation, samples, etc.
• Ensure operational activities and process performance are aligned with plant and business goals.
• Use troubleshooting skills to resolve process related deviations and problems and maintain equipment reliability
• Initiate and participate in Root Cause Investigations as required
• Perform immediate response activities and manage unplanned events
• Use process knowledge and skills to make improvements in plant performance and Operating Discipline
• Use measurements and tools to operate the Plant at optimum conditions
• Perform process equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements and preventative maintenance, utilizing appropriate processes and disciplines

Skills

1. Technical & Process Operation Skills

• Distributed Control System (DCS) Operation: Ability to monitor, control, and adjust plant variables remotely via control room screens.
• Specialized Process Equipment Operation: Domain expertise in operating specific core machinery, specifically Pans (crystallizers), Evaporators, and Centrifugals.
• Field Operations & Equipment Inspection: Competence in conducting physical field checks, walking down process lines, and inspecting rotating/static equipment.
• Instrumentation & Measurement Interpretation: Skill in utilizing plant gauges, analyzers, and tools to interpret parameters (temperature, pressure, level, flow) and optimize plant conditions.

2. Safety, Compliance & Operating Discipline

• Operating Discipline & Procedure Adherence: Strict adherence to established safety principles, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and compliance frameworks to prevent incidents.
• Emergency Response & Incident Management: Capability to execute immediate containment activities, manage unplanned plant events, and follow emergency protocols safely.
• Standard Task Execution: Rigorous compliance with standard task lists, checklist disciplines, and pre-start/equipment preparation protocols.

3. Problem-Solving, Maintenance & Continuous Improvement

• Process Troubleshooting & Deviation Analysis: Ability to diagnose and resolve real-time process bottlenecks, anomalies, and equipment deviations before they escalate.
• Root Cause Investigation (RCI): Active participation in root-cause problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 5-Why, Fishbone) to identify underlying causes of equipment or process failures.
• Basic Maintenance & Reliability Execution: Capability to perform minor equipment repairs, preventative maintenance tasks, and support mechanical/electrical upkeep to ensure high asset reliability.
• Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence: Ability to leverage process knowledge and performance metrics to drive plant efficiency and align daily execution with broader business goals.
