The Career Nest is partnering with an upscale, casual dining destination located in Al Khobar, Eastern Province. This establishment is recognized for its high-quality food, warm hospitality, and a focus on executing culinary concepts with precision and elegance, drawing inspiration from the French Riviera.
Role Summary
The Junior Pastry Sous Chef will support the Head Pastry Chef in managing the pastry section. This full-time role involves overseeing daily production, ensuring consistent quality across all pastry items, and contributing to the development of the junior pastry team. The successful candidate will be prepared to lead the section when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute classic and contemporary pastry techniques with precision, attention to detail, and a focus on presentation.
- Support the Head Pastry Chef in motivating and developing the pastry team, maintaining discipline during peak service times, and leading the section confidently in the Head Pastry Chef's absence.
- Plan daily pastry production, monitor shelf life rigorously, adhere to strict FIFO (First-In, First-Out) and labeling standards, and manage freezing and defrosting procedures effectively.
- Ensure all pastry items meet high standards for taste, texture, and visual appeal, while maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant workspace.
- Monitor stock levels, manage portion controls, and minimize waste to maintain premium quality while controlling food costs.
Qualifications and Experience
- 2-5 years of experience in a pastry role, preferably within an upscale dining environment.
- Demonstrated ability to execute a range of pastry techniques, from viennoiserie to plated desserts.
- Experience in leading or mentoring junior team members.
- Strong understanding of hygiene, quality, and cost control standards in a kitchen setting.
Compensation
The salary for this position is 7,000 SAR monthly.
