QA/QC Lead Engineer Oil and Gas

About the Role

HUDSON is seeking a QA/QC Lead Engineer to manage quality systems for shutdown, turnaround, and project work at Saudi Aramco and its affiliate facilities. This full-time role, based in the Eastern Region, requires a professional with 8 to 10 years of experience in QA/QC within the Oil & Gas sector, specifically with a background in leading quality control for major projects or shutdowns.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and secure Aramco approval for FQAP, ITPs, work procedures, and the QC organization chart prior to project commencement.
• Develop WPS/PQR packages and welder qualification plans in accordance with ASME IX and SAES-W-010 / W-011.
• Author repair procedures adhering to ASME PCC-2, API 510 / 570 / 653, and SAES, including requesting waivers (SAEP-302) when necessary.
• Submit inspector certificates and calibration records for approval, and plan QC manpower based on the project schedule.
• Review SATIP / SAIC and Schedule Q to establish hold and witness points.
• Conduct inspections of static equipment such as vessels, exchangers, columns and internals, fin fans, and drums, in compliance with ASME VIII ** and API 510.
• Oversee tank repair, alteration, and settlement work according to API 650 / 653 and SAES-D-108.
• Manage piping fabrication, PMI, PWHT, hardness testing, and NDE in line with ASME **, API 570, and SAES-L-350.
• Maintain the welder register, WPS-welder matrix, daily allocation, and repair-rate tracking (SAEP-1160).
• Manage flange joint lists, torque, and leak-test records (ASME PCC-1, SAEP-351); issue test packs and witness hydro/pneumatic tests (SAES-A-004).
• Close NCRs, address punch A and B items, and facilitate final inspection with Aramco.
• Review NDE reports and RT films from subcontractors before client submission.
• Compile and issue the comprehensive QC dossier, including records, certificates, weld maps, test packs, and calibration data.
• Report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as welder repair rate, NCR closure, hold-point compliance, and dossier status.
• Document lessons learned for future shutdown projects.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8 to 10 years of QA/QC experience in the Oil & Gas industry, with significant experience as a QC lead on several shutdown or major projects.
• Demonstrated experience working under Aramco inspection protocols (SATIP / SAIC) and leading the pre-start approval of quality documents.
• Certification: At least two or three valid and verifiable certifications from API 510, API 570, or CSWIP (or AWS CWI).
• Proven capability in writing repair procedures for static equipment and piping.

Work Environment

The successful candidate will operate within Saudi Aramco and affiliate facilities, serving as the primary quality contact for Aramco inspection, Third Party Inspectors, and project management. This role involves leading a QC team and welder resources on site, ensuring adherence to quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
