Key Responsibilities Software Architecture
- Define and maintain software architecture principles, standards, and technical guidelines.
- Design scalable, secure, reliable, and maintainable software solutions.
- Review and approve solution architectures and major technical designs.
- Evaluate architectural options and provide recommendations based on business and technical requirements.
- Ensure alignment across application, integration, infrastructure, security, and enterprise architecture standards.
- Lead technical design reviews and architecture discussions.
- Identify and manage technical risks, dependencies, and technical debt.
- Promote reusable components, modern engineering practices, and appropriate architectural patterns.
- Support modernization of legacy applications and platforms.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance across software engineering teams.
- Mentor senior engineers, technical leads, and developers.
- Support teams in resolving complex technical and production issues.
- Establish and improve engineering standards, development practices, and technical governance.
- Review technical designs, implementation approaches, and critical code changes.
- Work with engineering managers and delivery teams to ensure technical readiness, solution quality, and successful delivery.
- Participate in technical assessments and interviews for engineering resources when required.
- Identify technical capability gaps and support knowledge sharing and technical development across engineering teams.
- Promote continuous improvement and technical excellence.
- Design and oversee integrations between internal systems, external platforms, government systems, partners, and third-party services.
- Define appropriate integration patterns, APIs, messaging, events, and data exchange mechanisms.
- Review API specifications, integration contracts, authentication mechanisms, and security requirements.
- Ensure integrations are scalable, reliable, secure, monitored, and properly documented.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve integration challenges.
- Define standards for API management, versioning, error handling, retry mechanisms, logging, and monitoring.
- Ensure integration solutions meet performance, security, and availability requirements.
- Provide technical oversight for software development and technology vendors.
- Review vendor technical proposals, architectures, designs, and implementation plans.
- Participate in RFP, RFI, and technical evaluation activities.
- Define technical requirements, evaluation criteria, and acceptance standards.
- Assess vendor technical capabilities and participate in technical interviews when required.
- Monitor vendor technical quality, deliverables, and compliance with agreed standards.
- Ensure vendor solutions align with organizational architecture, security, coding, integration, and operational standards.
- Identify technical delivery risks and recommend mitigation actions.
- Review technical scope, estimates, assumptions, dependencies, and change requests.
- Participate in product and software release planning.
- Coordinate with product, engineering, QA, DevOps, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and operations teams.
- Review release scope, technical dependencies, risks, and readiness.
- Ensure testing, deployment, rollback, monitoring, and operational readiness plans are in place.
- Support prioritization of technical initiatives, enhancements, defects, and technical debt.
- Ensure releases follow established SDLC and change management processes.
- Participate in production readiness reviews and major release decisions.
- Support post-release reviews and identify opportunities to improve release quality and reliability.
- Establish and enforce software engineering standards and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, data protection, architecture, and software development requirements.
- Participate in technical governance committees and architecture review boards when required.
- Define technical documentation standards.
- Ensure documentation is maintained for architectures, integrations, APIs, systems, and key technical decisions.
- Drive adoption of automated testing, code quality, CI/CD, observability, monitoring, and secure development practices.
- Track and manage technical debt across systems and products.
- Translate business requirements into effective and scalable technical solutions.
- Collaborate with Product Management to develop technical roadmaps aligned with business priorities.
- Communicate complex technical topics clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Provide technical recommendations to management and support technology-related decision-making.
- Coordinate across engineering, product, security, infrastructure, data, operations, and external partners.
- Represent Software Engineering in technical discussions with customers, partners, and vendors when required.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in software engineering, software architecture, or related technical roles.
- Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale software platforms and complex technical solutions.
- Demonstrated technical leadership across engineering teams, products, and complex technical initiatives.
- Strong expertise in software architecture, system design, APIs, integrations, distributed systems, and Agile delivery.
- Experience with external technology vendors, SDLC, release management, DevOps, and CI/CD practices.
- Strong understanding of application security, scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability.

- Experience with cloud-native platforms, containers, Kubernetes, and modern DevOps environments.
- Experience in application modernization, digital transformation, technical roadmaps, and engineering standards.
- Architecture quality and compliance with technical standards.
- System availability, reliability, performance, and maintainability.
- Reduction of production incidents and technical debt.
- Successful delivery of integrations, releases, and deployments.
