The Role: OFR Specialist

DHL Global Forwarding is seeking an OFR Specialist to join their team in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves managing ocean freight operations and customer service, ensuring efficient service delivery and contributing to business development.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and develop trade lane consolidations for South African export traffic.
• Engage with the Global DGF network to promote and develop the Gateway for neighboring countries and local coastal branches.
• Coordinate day-to-day operations within the Airfreight Gateway.
• Assist and support the ACC Manager in rate and capacity procurement as required.
• Create and/or confirm transport orders, and perform and optimize bookings.
• Prepare, control, and distribute all required Import/Export documents.
• Identify performance issues of suppliers and propose solutions to improve performance.
• Update Customs shipment information and physical status, and resolve customer issues and incidents.
• Implement OFR Ops/CS plans and processes to provide ocean freight services for internal and external customers.
• Analyze and collate requirements for the freight control center, and support the operations team with necessary details, information, and instructions.
• Coordinate freight administration, including allocation and reservations of freight on planned line haul.
• Contribute to developing and executing plans for ocean freight products in areas such as perishables, pharmaceutical, and aviation.
• Identify opportunities to expand business with new clients and continuously improve in-house customer services.
• Build close business relationships with existing clients, conduct customer visits, and maintain customer retention.
• Stay updated on account performances, draft, and provide monthly reports to management.
• Implement pricing strategy and respond to pricing enquiries efficiently and competitively.
• Deliver day-to-day shipment documentation for freight forwarding, assist in the development of shipping tenders, and ensure on-time submission of relevant documents.
• Seek opportunities to enhance ocean freight productivity and efficient resource allocation and utilization.
• Analyze and provide input for processes and design systems to enhance service quality.
• Resolve and analyze issues in day-to-day delivery and implement practices for OFR Ops/CS focusing on increasing effectiveness and efficiency.
• Provide support, direction, and guidance to less experienced or new team members.

Qualifications and Experience

• 5-10 years of relevant experience.
