About the Role of Consultant Neuro Surgeon

Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib (HMG) is seeking a Consultant Neuro Surgeon for a permanent position. This role involves providing the highest standard of clinical care and expertise in the assessment, investigation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients requiring neurosurgery and related conditions. The successful candidate will be actively involved in continuous quality improvement activities within the department and hospital to achieve HMG's objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage assigned clinics according to the rota approved by the Medical Director.
• Admit patients under care when indicated and within assigned privileges.
• Conduct initial assessment, investigation, analysis, and interpretation of clinical findings and test results to arrive at a diagnosis, treatment plan, and subsequent re-assessment and follow-up.
• Prescribe and administer medication, therapy, and other appropriate care to treat or prevent complications.
• Explain procedures and discuss diagnostic results or prescribed treatments with patients and/or authorized attendants.
• Monitor patient condition and progress, re-evaluating and treating as necessary.
• Refer patients to other consultants/specialists when required and provide consulting services to other physicians upon request.
• Undertake daily rounds for admitted patients and referred cases.
• Document and ensure completeness of all medical records in accordance with hospital policies, providing appropriate updates on patient progress.
• Authenticate medical records at initial entries and progress notes using personal login credentials.
• Review and validate entries and notes made by junior medical staff for patients under their care.
• Perform diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures for which the Consultant is privileged.
• Approve completed discharge summaries, follow-up plans, and medical reports.
• Assume duties as Head of Department when required by management.
• Ensure implementation of all approved policies, procedures, rules, regulations, protocols, guidelines, and clinical pathways.
• Direct, supervise, and coordinate the activities of specialists, residents, nurses, therapists, assistants, and other medical staff involved in patient care.
• Advise and contribute to the development of policies and procedures as part of the department's continuous quality improvement program.
• Serve on Departmental/Hospital Committees as required.
• Ensure adherence to Islamic Values and Medical Ethics.
• Be available for On-Call duties as per hospital policy.
• Attend Code Blue and other emergency codes as applicable.
• Provide patient medical reports and information as required by the Head of Department or Hospital Administrator/Medical Director.
• Identify and report all Medico-Legal Cases to management in a timely manner according to hospital policy.
• Participate in clinical and academic activities of the hospital.
• Play an active role in educating patients and their families on healthy lifestyles and contribute to community health awareness.
• Maintain regularity and punctuality in assigned duties.
• Follow all hospital policies and procedures.
• Obtain informed consent for all diagnostic procedures, operations, tests, or procedures in accordance with hospital policy.
• Participate in and lead person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
• Provide orientation, bedside training, and supervision to undergraduate and postgraduate trainees (interns, residents, and fellows) as assigned.
• Participate in self and others’ education, training, and development, as well as departmental educational activities and training programs.
• Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect, and dignity.
• Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Experience Required

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in neurosurgery.
