Job Purpose:

The MPS Materials Métier has deep, specialized knowledge in materials engineering and corrosion to provide expert guidance and solutions to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. The MPS Materials Métier is an internal and external resource for materials engineering support, where performs technical peer reviews, provides support for tenders and execution, and generally provides oversight in their area of expertise to address any issues that arise. Stay updated with the latest advancements in materials science and corrosion prevention techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform engineering tasks to support tendering, projects, services, or standardization, as required by the MPS business.
• Prepare material selection diagrams and material selection reports for MPS projects and production facilities.
• Review material selection reports and drawings from clients, vendors, and third parties.
• Prepare specific material specifications for:
• Pipes
• Piping Components
• Valves
• Equipment
• Structures
• Instrumentation
• Specify, maintain corrosion simulation software, and perform corrosion rate calculations.
• Develop, review, maintain, and revise specifications, guidelines, and procedures encompassing:
• Material Selection and Testing
• Corrosion Protection and Management, including Painting and Cathodic Protection
• Fabrication, including Material Processing, Welding, and Heat Treatments
• Insulation Selection and Installation
• Troubleshoot and provide guidance and expert input on material fabrication and coating issues for projects.
• Conduct failure analysis and prepare reports on root causes, solutions for operational issues, and failed components in collaboration with production teams and third-party laboratories as needed.
• Liaise with material specialist groups across the divisions, production, and quality staff to utilize laboratories, tools, and synergies.
• Prepare and conduct material and corrosion training for MPS engineers to enhance the overall understanding of materials engineering within the organization.
• Develop and maintain the MPS materials website as a repository for:
• Material Specifications
• Training Materials
• Lessons Learned
• Service Requests
• Engineering Queries
• Provide input to the Lessons Learned process and utilize findings from the process to update tools and processes.
• Ensure consistent and effective implementation of MPS engineering standards and processes.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.

Education Qualification:

• Minimum Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Engineering.

Experience:

• Minimum 7–10 years of experience in the Oil and Gas Industry.

Expertise:

• In-depth knowledge of national and international codes and standards for oil field process equipment design.
• Clear understanding of the various raw material types, grades, and selection criteria.
