Job description

• Take the necessary measures to protect the hotel and defend it against fires and natural disasters, and train employees in this area.
• Consult with and inform the chief engineer about any issues deemed necessary.
• Ensure that all hotel employees take the required occupational health and safety measures and are properly trained.
• Take and comply with all measures required for occupational health and safety.
• Participate in the emergency response teams and the fire extinguishing team.
• Conduct audits at hazardous waste or industrial sites, and participate in hazardous waste site investigations.
• Conduct safety training and education programs for existing staff and newcomers, and demonstrate the use of safety equipment.
• Coordinate right-to-know programs regarding hazardous chemicals and other substances.
• Develop and maintain hygiene programs in accordance with Rixos procedures, international standards, and laws.
• Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
• Inspect designated areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, and first-aid supplies.
• Investigate accidents to identify their causes and determine how they might be prevented in the future.
• Investigate health-related complaints and inspect facilities to ensure compliance with public health legislation and regulations.
• Investigate the adequacy of ventilation, exhaust equipment, lighting, and other conditions that could affect employee health, comfort, or performance.
• Maintain and update emergency response plans and procedures.
• Maintain inventories of hazardous materials and hazardous waste, using waste tracking systems to ensure materials are handled properly.
• Order the suspension of activities that pose threats to workers’ health and safety.
• Prepare hazardous, radioactive, and mixed waste samples for transportation and storage by treating, compacting, packaging, and labelling them.
• Recommend measures to protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
• Assess the potential environmental impact of activities and purchased equipment and supplies. Participate in activities that protect biological diversity, share responsibility for these efforts, and help increase environmental awareness through necessary training. Minimize the consumption of supplies and equipment, such as paper and printed materials.
• Implement necessary notices and departmental training to conserve energy within the facility. Carry out decisions made to save energy and assess the environmental and energy-efficiency impacts of purchased equipment.
• Fulfil responsibilities for properly sorting and collecting waste, reducing environmental pollution and harmful environmental effects, and guiding staff in these efforts.
• Ensure chemicals are transported, stored, and used safely and in accordance with laws, while controlling and reducing chemical contamination.
• Carry out all responsibilities related to the quality management and food safety management systems implemented at the facility.
• Carry out any other duties assigned by managers and hotel management that are not specified in this job description.

Qualifications

• Education: At least a technical high school diploma or vocational diploma.
• Experience: At least four years of related work experience.
• Foreign language: Intermediate-level English.
• Courses and training: Sufficient theoretical and practical background, including attendance at courses and seminars in the related field. Must meet the general safety training requirements under applicable domestic labour laws.
• Computer literacy: Proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Skills: Good knowledge of safety developments and practices, with the ability to monitor them. Able to advise other employees when needed. Expected to develop expertise through technical training and long-term experience with methods, advanced techniques, special equipment, and work processes in the related field.
