Job Description

As a QA Automation Engineer , you will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining automated tests for front-end and back-end applications for the client's IT department.

You will contribute to ensuring the quality and reliability of applications by participating in the implementation of appropriate automation strategies, relying in particular on Java, Selenium, Karate API and databases.

In collaboration with the Product, Development and Design teams, you will participate in the continuous improvement of testing processes, the optimization of test coverage and the implementation of robust and sustainable automation solutions.

Your main responsibilities:

As part of your duties, you will be required to:

• Design, develop and maintain automated test scripts for front-end and back-end applications, using Selenium with Java and Karate API.
• Write clear, structured and reusable test scenarios in Gherkin, within the framework of a BDD ( Behavior-Driven Development ) approach.
• Design and execute REST API tests by mastering the principles of RESTful architectures and using tools such as Postman.
• Interacting with relational databases, including PostgreSQL, as well as BigQuery, to prepare, exploit and validate test datasets using SQL queries.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, particularly via GitLab CI, to improve execution reliability and strengthen quality controls.
• Manage test campaigns and ensure their traceability using Jira and Xray, guaranteeing rigorous monitoring of anomalies and results.
• Apply good practices in software quality assurance and the principles of testing methodologies, particularly those of ISTQB.
• Build and maintain realistic and reproducible test datasets, in line with business needs.
• Produce accurate, concise and usable test deliverables and reports for all stakeholders.
• Analyze test coverage, evaluate the relevance of automations, and identify areas for continuous improvement.
• Participate in Agile activities, including Scrum ceremonies, Sprint Planning and backlog tracking.

Desired Candidate Profile

Desired profile:

• You have a Bac+5 degree from an engineering school or an equivalent university course, with a specialization in computer science, or you have equivalent significant professional experience.
• You have 3-7 years of experience in a similar position and possess the following skills:

• Good mastery of Java and Selenium for front-end test automation.
• Proven experience in API test automation with Karate.
• Good knowledge of REST API testing and Postman.
• Proficient in SQL and experienced with databases such as PostgreSQL and/or BigQuery.
• Experience in integrating and executing automated tests via GitLab CI.
• Good knowledge of Jira and Xray for managing test campaigns.
• Understanding of BDD principles and mastery of Gherkin syntax.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum.

ISTQB certification is an additional advantage.

Beyond your technical skills, you demonstrate rigor, autonomy, and strong analytical abilities. You enjoy teamwork, are proactive, and wish to actively contribute to the continuous improvement of software quality.

Experience in the retail or mass distribution sector would be an asset.
