Job description:

The Systems Engineer will be based at King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) in Riyadh and will report directly to the Maintenance Manager. The role is responsible for managing and supervising the execution of maintenance activities related to the Airfield Lighting Control and Monitoring System (ALCMS), Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL), and Constant Current Regulators (CCRs) under the SLA contract at King Khalid International Airport. The Systems Engineer will assess the airport’s repair and maintenance needs and ensure that all activities are properly planned, coordinated, executed, and completed according to contractual, operational, technical, and safety requirements. The role requires a proactive and self-driven engineer who can troubleshoot complex technical issues, take ownership of assigned tasks, and develop effective solutions with limited supervision.

You will make an impact by:

• Managing the maintenance team with direct responsibility for the maintenance of ALCMS, AGL, CCRs, and related electronic systems and equipment installed at the airport.
• Supervising, planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating the work of employees.
• Adjusting assignments, procedures, and schedules as necessary.
• Scheduling and assigning work, including overtime, vacations, and other time off.
• Participating in the selection process for subordinate personnel.
• Managing the execution of maintenance tasks within the defined scope.Managing work orders, including their issuance, execution, reporting, follow-up, and closure.
• Maintaining records and preparing reports related to airfield maintenance and repair activities.
• Ensuring the availability of spare parts, tools, equipment, vehicles, and other required resources.
• Coordinating daily with the Maintenance Manager regarding unplanned activities that require additional staff support.
• Establishing preventive, planned, corrective, and unplanned maintenance activities for the scope included in the maintenance plan.
• Following up, evaluating, and optimizing all preventive maintenance procedures.
• Following corrective maintenance work orders and closing completed work orders in the Computer-Aided Facility Management system (CAFM).Preparing and submitting Permit to Work (PTW) requests to the Customer Representative correctly and within the required time.
• Enforcing safety rules and regulations and ensuring that all work progresses according to approved procedures, project plans, and specifications.
• Preparing, signing, and forwarding all documents required for submission to the Customer Representative to the Maintenance Manager for approval.
• Obtaining cost figures and estimates to support the preparation of the maintenance contract budget.
• Recommending additional capital equipment, replacement of existing equipment, and the purchase of required spare parts.
• Coordinating with the Maintenance Manager regarding the review, control, and updating of technical documentation.
• Leading the troubleshooting of complex technical faults, performing root-cause analysis, and implementing effective corrective actions.
• Taking ownership of technical issues from initial identification through to final resolution.
• Proactively identifying recurring faults, operational risks, and opportunities to improve system reliability and maintenance performance.
• When obstacles arise, actively exploring alternative solutions, seeking the necessary support, and escalating the matter promptly rather than allowing the task to stop.
• Participating in the airport’s on-call, recall, and standby programmes.
• Being responsible for achieving the SLA contract KPIs.

The talent we want to inspire has:

• A diploma in electrical/electronic engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• A minimum of 10 years of maintenance experience, including specific hands-on experience with ALCMS, AGL systems, and CCRs.
• Strong knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of airfield lighting control systems, AGL circuits, and CCR equipment.
• Skill in using standard and specialized tools required for the work.
• The ability to interpret, understand, and effectively carry out complex written and verbal technical instructions.
• The ability to communicate effectively by radio with the Air Traffic Control Tower and comply with applicable rules regarding vehicle use within airport movement and non-movement areas.
• The ability to prepare detailed technical reports and provide recommendations for improving maintenance operations.
• The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, customers, contractors, and the airport operator.
• Strong ability to supervise, train, motivate, and inspect the work of subordinate employees.
• Excellent knowledge of international safety rules and regulations.Good knowledge of applicable ICAO standards.
• Excellent spoken and written English; knowledge of any additional language is considered an advantage.
• Strong technical troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• A proactive and self-driven approach, with the ability to take initiative and work effectively with limited supervision.
• A strong sense of ownership and accountability for assigned tasks, technical issues, and operational results.
• A solution-oriented mindset, including the ability to identify practical alternatives when the original approach cannot be completed.
• The ability to remain focused and make sound decisions in a safety-critical and operationally demanding environment.
