Position Overview

The Staff Testing Engineer, Powertrain owns the test infrastructure across AMP-2 Powertrain — including DU EOL test, HV Battery EOL, Inverter functional test, and Dynamometer test cells. Joining a greenfield facility, this engineer defines test system architecture, MSA governance, calibration standards, and correlation methodology from first commissioning through volume ramp to SOP. The role is the senior technical authority on Powertrain test. The role operates through disciplined change control, objective launch evidence, cross-functional problem solving, and structured transfer of technical ownership to the Saudi workforce.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

• Test Infrastructure Ownership

• Own end-to-end Powertrain test infrastructure: DU EOL, Battery EOL, Inverter test, Dyno cells

• Define test system architecture, hardware, software, and data standards

• Govern test cell readiness and validation

EOL Test Systems Architecture

• Define EOL test coverage, sequences, limits, and pass/fail criteria

• Own test-data architecture and integration to MES and analytics platforms

MSA & Gauge Studies

• Govern MSA methodology across all Powertrain test systems

• Ensure Gauge R&R compliance for all critical measurements

Test Correlation & Data Analytics

• Own test correlation strategy across sites, cells, and test stands

• Deploy test-data analytics for early defect detection and drift identification

Product Validation Interface

• Interface with Product Validation and Design engineering on test coverage, escapes, and correlation

• Support product change management from test perspective

TPM & Autonomous Maintenance Support

• Support TPM deployment across Autonomous Maintenance, Planned Maintenance, and Focused Improvement pillars

• Contribute to equipment OEE improvement, MTBF/MTTR reduction, and predictive maintenance strategies

• Leverage MES, IIoT, and historian analytics to identify and eliminate losses

HV Safety & Compliance

• Enforce HV LOTO, HVIL continuity, and mandatory HV PPE for all work on or near EV Powertrain equipment

• Comply with SASO, Saudi MOL, IEC 60204, and functional safety standards (ISO 13849 / IEC 62061)

• Support HV emergency response including thermal runaway isolation and battery-related incident procedures

• Achieve and maintain HV safety competency appropriate to scope of work

Launch Governance & Ramp-Up

• Support AMP-2 Safe Launch activities, run-at-rate events, and capacity verification within scope

• Contribute to Launch Readiness Reviews, Layered Process Audits, and Process Confirmation routines

• Participate in QRQC / RCCA escalations during launch and ramp-up phases

Enterprise Test Strategy & Technical Governance

• Define common architecture, software framework, data model, cybersecurity, configuration, calibration and lifecycle standards across DU, Battery, Inverter and Dyno test systems.

• Chair test-specification and limit governance with Product Validation, Design, Quality and Manufacturing; control coverage rationale, risk acceptance and release evidence.

• Establish MSA, correlation, golden-unit, fault-insertion, uncertainty and test-capability standards; govern false pass/false fail and escape reduction.

• Own test technology roadmap, Capex/Opex, vendor strategy, obsolescence, critical spares, talent development and readiness for future products.

Launch Governance, Change Control & Operational Readiness

• Support FAT/SAT, commissioning, equipment acceptance, Safe Launch, run-at-rate and capacity verification with objective evidence and disciplined punch-list closure.

• Control production, process, software and test changes through documented risk assessment, approvals, validation, revision history and rollback or containment planning.

• Participate in readiness reviews, Layered Process Audits, Process Confirmation and QRQC/RCCA; close assigned actions with verified effectiveness.

Safety, Quality, Data Integrity & Compliance

• Apply role-specific HV LOTO/HVIL, machine safety, stored-energy isolation, electrical safe-work and PPE requirements; never bypass safety devices or product protections.

• Protect product genealogy, calibrated-tool status, test/measurement integrity, document control and audit-ready objective evidence.

• Comply with applicable AMP-2, SASO, Saudi labor/EHS, IATF 16949, IEC 60204 and functional-safety requirements within assigned scope.

Saudization, Capability Transfer & Collaboration

• Build Saudi national capability through structured OJT, ILU/skills matrices, practical assessment, certification, cross-training and documented knowledge transfer.

• Create technical standards, troubleshooting guides and training material; support interviews and KSA university/TVTC engagement where requested.

• Collaborate across Production, Quality, Maintenance, Automation/Robotics, Manufacturing Engineering, EHS, IT/OT, MES, Supply Chain, Product Engineering and suppliers.

 

Skills

• Deep test engineering expertise across EV Powertrain products

• MSA, Gauge R&R, and calibration fluency

• Strong data-analytics and correlation capability

• Cross-functional leadership across Test, Quality, Design, and Manufacturing

• Passion for developing Saudi national test engineers

• Technical standards, structured problem solving, risk-based decision making and controlled documentation

• Data literacy: KPI definition, trend analysis, evidence-based validation and clear executive/shop-floor communication

• Cross-functional influence, supplier coordination and disciplined ownership in a greenfield launch environment

• Coaching, competency assessment and knowledge transfer in a multicultural English/Arabic workplace

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering; Master's preferred

• 8+ years in test engineering for EV Powertrain (DU, Battery, or Inverter); 5+ years in senior technical roles

• Demonstrated test system architecture, MSA, and correlation experience

• Fluent in English; Arabic strongly preferred

• ISO 17025; greenfield launch; digital test data platforms

• Recognized discipline certification, Lean/Six Sigma, greenfield EV/automotive launch and KSA workforce-development experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience with commissioning, FAT/SAT, launch, production readiness or high-volume manufacturing ramp within the role discipline

• Working knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP/change control, machine/HV safety and traceability requirements applicable to the role
