Position Overview

The Staff Battery & Inverter Manufacturing Engineer is the senior technical lead for HV Battery Pack and Inverter assembly processes at AMP-2. Joining a greenfield facility, this staff engineer defines Battery and Inverter processes from first principles, governs PFMEA, PPAP, SPC, etc. The role is accountable for Battery/Inverter FPY, Cpk, yield, and NPI readiness and HV safety. The role operates through disciplined change control, objective launch evidence, cross-functional problem solving, and structured knowledge transfer of technical and ownership to the workforce.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Full and complete ownership and responsibilities for all technical aspects of Battery & Inverter

 

Process technical ownership

·                Define end-to-end process flow, specifications, parameters, critical characteristics, control methods and reaction plans.

·                Own: PFD, PFMEA, Control Plan, SWI, shop setup, centerline and change-control coherence across DU operations.

·                Lead DFM/DFA, tolerance, tooling and testability reviews with Product Engineering, Supplier Quality, Test and AME.

·                Define and own “Thermal management” process controls

·                 Protect product genealogy, calibrated-tool status, test/measurement integrity, document control and audit-ready objective evidence.

PFMEA, Control Plans & PPAP

·                 Lead PFMEA registers for all Battery and Inverter operations

·                 Own Control Plan governance under IATF 16949 framework

·                 Own PPAP deliverables: MSA, Cpk/Ppk, run-at-rate, PSW submissions

·                 Deploy MES-integrated SPC across key Battery/Inverter parameters

Traceability & Genealogy

·                 Ensure complete genealogy and traceability of cells, modules, packs, and inverters

·                 Own MES traceability standards and audit-readiness for HV Battery and Inverter

NPI Readiness

·                Lead manufacturing readiness for future Battery and Inverter variants

·                Interface with Design, Test, and Supplier Quality on manufacturability and launch readiness reviews

TPM & Autonomous Maintenance Support

·                Support TPM deployment across Autonomous Maintenance, Planned Maintenance, and Focused Improvement pillars

·                Contribute to equipment OEE improvement, MTBF/MTTR reduction, and predictive maintenance strategies

·                Leverage MES, IIoT, and historian analytics to identify and eliminate losses

HV Safety & Compliance

·                 Enforce HV LOTO, HVIL continuity, and mandatory HV PPE for all work on or near EV Powertrain equipment

·                 Comply with SASO, Saudi MOL, IEC 60204, and international safety standards (e.g. ISO 13849 / IEC 62061)

·                 Support HV emergency response including thermal runaway isolation and battery-related incident procedures

·                 Achieve and maintain HV safety competency appropriate to scope of work

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Launch Governance, Change Control & Operational Readiness

·                 Support AMP-2 Safe Launch activities, run-at-rate events, and capacity verification within scope

·                 Participate in readiness reviews, Layered Process Audits, Process Confirmation and QRQC/RCCA; close assigned actions with verified effectiveness.

·                 Support FAT/SAT, commissioning, equipment acceptance, Launch, run-at-rate and capacity verification, etc.

·                 Control production, process, software and test changes through documented risk assessment, approvals, validation, revision history and rollback or containment planning.

Saudization & Capability

·                 Build Saudi national capabilities and mentor Saudi national engineers/technicians in discipline-specific skills and structured problem-solving

·                 Develop training materials, competency matrices, and OJT plans

 

Skills

·                 Deep HV Battery Pack and Inverter manufacturing expertise

·                 PFMEA, Control Plan, PPAP, and SPC mastery under IATF 16949

·                 Strong thermal, environmental, and dry-room process knowledge

·                 Leadership, passion for building new industry and for developing people

·                 Technical standards, structured problem solving, risk-based decision making and controlled documentation

·                 Data literacy: KPI definition, trend analysis, evidence-based validation and clear executive/shop-floor communication

·                 Cross-functional influence, supplier coordination and disciplined ownership in a greenfield launch environment

·                Coaching, competency assessment and knowledge transfer in a multicultural English/Arabic workplace

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

·                 Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering; Master's preferred

·                 8+ years in advanced automotive / EV Battery or power-electronics manufacturing; 5+ years in senior process engineering

·                 Demonstrated PFMEA, PPAP, SPC track record within IATF 16949

·                 Strong HV Battery safety awareness including thermal runaway, cell chemistry, etc

·                 Fluent in English; Arabic strongly preferred

·                 Preferred: Six Sigma Black Belt; greenfield launch; digital manufacturing tools; dry-room process expertise

·                 Must be able to work around automated equipment and, where authorized, high-voltage Powertrain products.

·                 Demonstrated experience with commissioning, FAT/SAT, launch, production readiness or high-volume manufacturing ramp within the role discipline

·                 Working knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP/change control, machine/HV safety and traceability requirements applicable to the role

·                 Preferred: recognized discipline certification, Lean/Six Sigma, greenfield EV/automotive launch
