Project Finance Specialist

About the Role

Saudi Aramco is seeking a Project Finance Specialist to join the Capital Markets & Financing Department (CM&FD). This full-time position involves providing expert analysis on project financing and structured financing for potential joint ventures, mergers, and acquisitions within the energy, chemicals, power, and infrastructure sectors. The role handles large, complex, and non-routine financial or banking projects, often with limited precedent.

Departmental Context

The Capital Markets & Financing Department (CM&FD) is part of the Finance Business Line within Saudi Aramco, reporting to the Treasurer’s organization. Its core objectives include offering expert financial advice to organizations developing new businesses or joint ventures, coordinating the Finance Organization’s involvement in such development activities, and securing debt and equity capital for new business ventures when appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide advice on the bankability of project agreements and strategies for minimizing financing risk.
• Develop business plans, financial forecasts, funding strategies, and execution plans to support investment decisions and optimize project financing.
• Coordinate activities with investment banks, project advisors, project lenders, and other consultants to arrange project financing.
• Offer professional and technical expertise for analyzing and resolving complex problems in project finance areas within Treasury.
• Participate in and/or lead multi-disciplinary project evaluation and development teams focused on enhancing current operations, profitability, and facilitating the implementation of the Company’s development strategies.
• Monitor and analyze international, regional, and local economic and banking data, identify trends impacting the Company, and advise management on potential opportunities and risks.
• Develop and interpret data for highly technical and confidential financial analysis.
• Assist in resolving complex business problems and developing alternatives or options to mitigate risk and improve performance.
• Develop policies, programs, and procedures related to project finance.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of seven years of related project finance and corporate finance work experience, demonstrating career progression. Experience in a banking environment or a major refining, petrochemical, or energy industry corporation is preferred.
• Significant experience in Project & Structured Finance, Export Credit Agency Financing, Islamic Finance, Debt Capital Markets, and the structuring of bankable commercial agreements is strongly preferred.
• Exposure to joint venture development of mega-projects, EPC contracts, commercial & partnership negotiations, financial modeling, economic evaluations, cash flow & variance analysis, project engineering, and/or project management is highly desirable.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Ability to quickly establish credibility and effectively interact with all levels of management, including senior leadership.
• Demonstrated capability to work within a matrix organization and with multi-disciplinary project teams and consultants to deliver results efficiently.
• Negotiation experience with and comprehension of complex legal agreements and banking documents.
