Job description
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical-office review and coordination of all electrical engineering packages.
- Review electrical design criteria, specifications, drawings, schedules, calculations and technical submissions.
- Verify fault-level and short-circuit calculations for medium- and low-voltage systems.
- Review load schedules, demand factors, diversity factors and maximum-demand calculations.
- Validate voltage-drop calculations, cable sizing, current-carrying capacity and cable-derating factors.
- Review protection-coordination studies, relay settings, selectivity analyses and time-current curves.
- Verify earthing-system designs, earth-fault calculations, touch and step voltage criteria and bonding arrangements.
- Review lightning-protection and surge-protection calculations and layouts.
- Evaluate power-factor-correction requirements, harmonic studies and electrical power-quality considerations.
- Review and recommend approval of shop drawings for medium- and low-voltage distribution networks.
- Review substation arrangements, transformers, ring-main units, switchgear, distribution boards and feeder layouts.
- Verify electrical designs for irrigation pump stations, lake systems, utility buildings and auxiliary facilities.
- Review motor-control centres, variable-frequency drives, soft starters, motor protection and local-control panels.
- Review standby generators, automatic transfer switches, synchronization panels and emergency-power arrangements.
- Verify that equipment ratings, fault withstand capacity, ingress protection and environmental classifications are suitable for the intended installation.
- Coordinate power requirements for irrigation pumps, lake aeration, water features, lighting and other landscape systems.
- Review specialized schematics for golf-course two-wire irrigation decoders, field controllers, solenoid valves and central-control systems.
- Verify interfaces among irrigation controllers, weather stations, flow sensors, pump controls and communication networks.
- Review communication-cable routes, field-device requirements, surge protection and control-panel interfaces.
- Coordinate electrical and control-system requirements with irrigation, mechanical, landscape and civil disciplines.
- Validate lighting designs and photometric calculations for driving ranges, practice greens, pathways, roads, car parks and landscape areas.
- Review glare control, uniformity, illumination levels, pole locations, luminaire selection and lighting-control strategies.
- Coordinate external lighting with landscape features, irrigation networks, underground utilities and site operations.
- Review clubhouse electrical systems, including normal, essential, emergency and uninterruptible power supplies.
- Review clubhouse lighting, small power, distribution, metering, earthing and lightning-protection systems.
- Review fire-alarm, Building Management System, CCTV, access-control, public-address, Wi-Fi, structured-cabling and other low-current systems.
- Verify ELV system architecture, equipment compatibility, containment, power supplies and integration requirements.
- Coordinate fire and life-safety systems with mechanical smoke-control, emergency-power and building-management systems.
- Review electrical interfaces with architectural, structural, mechanical, civil, irrigation and landscape works.
- Coordinate equipment-room layouts, electrical rooms, service corridors, risers, trenches, duct banks and cable routes.
- Review Combined Services Drawings, coordinated shop drawings and BIM clash-detection reports.
- Verify requirements for builders’ work, sleeves, openings, embedded items, equipment bases and maintenance clearances.
- Evaluate electrical material and equipment submittals, including transformers, switchgear, distribution boards, cables, VFDs, luminaires, control panels and lightning-protection components.
- Confirm compliance with approved specifications, calculations, datasheets, schedules and relevant standards.
- Review manufacturers’ technical data, type-test certificates, factory-test procedures, warranties and spare-parts recommendations.
- Respond to technical queries and RFIs and develop technically justified recommendations.
- Review contractor design alternatives, deviations and value-engineering proposals.
- Assess the technical and operational consequences of proposed changes before recommending acceptance.
- Coordinate with Saudi Electricity Company and other authorities regarding connection requirements, technical approvals and energization.
- Support resolution of SEC comments and monitor closure of outstanding technical requirements.
- Conduct site visits to verify that installed systems comply with approved drawings and coordinated designs.
- Provide technical support to the Senior Electrical Site Engineer during inspections, testing and problem resolution.
- Review field changes and ensure that approved modifications are captured in redline drawings and final as-built documentation.
- Review electrical testing and commissioning procedures, inspection and test plans, and commissioning schedules.
- Witness or review tests for cables, switchgear, transformers, protection systems, generators, earthing, lighting and ELV systems.
- Support integrated systems testing involving emergency power, fire alarm, BMS, security and life-safety systems.
- Review testing results, commissioning reports, outstanding defects and corrective-action records.
- Review electrical sections of operation and maintenance manuals, training materials, asset registers and handover packages.
- Maintain technical review logs and monitor contractor responses, resubmissions and approval status.
- Prepare technical reports highlighting design risks, noncompliance, outstanding decisions and recommended actions.
- Advise the Project Manager on critical electrical matters affecting quality, cost, schedule, safety and system performance.
- Ensure compliance with the Saudi Building Code, Saudi Electricity Company standards, Civil Defense requirements, Client procedures and applicable international standards.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited and recognized university.
- Minimum 20 years of professional experience in electrical technical-office engineering, design review and design management.
- Demonstrated experience on major infrastructure, building, landscape or multidisciplinary development projects.
- Proven experience working for an engineering supervision consultancy, project-management consultancy or design consultant.
- Extensive knowledge of medium- and low-voltage power-distribution systems and substation design.
- Deep working knowledge of Saudi Electricity Company standards and technical-approval requirements.
- Experience coordinating complex external power-distribution networks with building electrical systems.
- Strong experience reviewing electrical calculations, protection studies, drawings and material submissions.
- Demonstrated experience with pump-station power systems, standby generators, VFDs and motor-control systems.
- Sound knowledge of fire-alarm, BMS, CCTV, access-control, public-address, Wi-Fi and structured-cabling systems.
- Advanced proficiency in ETAP, DIALux, AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
- Ability to review BIM models, coordinated services drawings and multidisciplinary interfaces.
- Strong technical writing, engineering judgment and stakeholder-coordination skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
