About the Role
Prospex Development is seeking a Head of Engineering to lead product direction and engineering delivery for an Arabic-first commerce platform in Saudi Arabia. This full-time role requires a hands-on leader to manage the platform's architecture, implementation, and technical readiness, leveraging AI to achieve speed and quality within a small team. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in a relevant field.
Key Responsibilities
- Make architecture and implementation decisions in alignment with business goals and budget.
- Lead AI-assisted development, code review, automated testing, deployment, and operational readiness.
- Ensure payment correctness, reconciliation, merchant account isolation, security, and reliability.
- Plan and rehearse data migration, recovery, and rollback procedures.
- Reject unsafe implementations and block unsafe releases to maintain system integrity.
- Resolve delivery tradeoffs with the Product team and demonstrate progress through working merchant workflows.
- Write and review code, direct AI agents, and take responsibility for the outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
- 5-10 years of experience in engineering leadership roles.
- Hands-on ownership of production commerce, payments, or similar demanding multi-tenant systems.
- Strong architecture and debugging skills, with demonstrated experience in handling integrations, incidents, and migrations.
- Proven use of AI coding agents across implementation, review, and testing, with evidence of faster delivery.
Required Skills
- Ability to identify and correct incorrect AI output, challenge weak tests, and independently verify correctness.
- Independent judgment and clear communication skills.
- Willingness to build directly with a small team and specialist support.
- Demonstrated effective AI agent use and engineering judgment to inspect, correct, and take responsibility for generated code.
First 90 Days Objectives
- Establish the technical baseline for the platform.
- Agree on a credible delivery plan with the Product team.
- Demonstrate complete priority workflows.
- Rehearse representative migration and rollback procedures.
- Commit to a pilot date after assessing readiness and dependencies.

This is a full-time position based in Saudi Arabia.
