Context

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the engineering delivery for high-speed rail (HSR) non-traction electrical systems across major passenger terminals, rolling stock maintenance depots, stabling facilities, and line-side service points.

Reporting directly to the MEP Engineering Manager, this role is responsible for design reviews, material approvals, and testing & commissioning (T&C) for Medium Voltage (MV 11kV–33kV) power distribution, shore power connection systems, auxiliary substations, and facility electrical building services.

Missions/Main Duties
Key Responsibilities1. Design Review & Engineering Compliance

• Submittal Verification: Perform rigorous technical reviews of engineering packages (Concept, Detailed, IFC, and As-Built) for passenger stations, depot workshop bays, stabling yards, and trackside service points.

  
  
  

• HSR & Depot Electrical Systems: Review designs for MV/LV switchgear, step-down transformers, Ring Main Units (RMUs), shore power supply units (400Hz / train pre-conditioning power), wheel-lathe/crane power distribution, and station building services (lighting, HVAC, life safety).

  
  
  

• Engineering Calculations: Validate calculation packages including MV load flow, short-circuit levels, voltage drop, cable sizing, earthing/grounding grid resistance, protection relay coordination, and arc flash safety.

  
  
  
• Standards & Life Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to HSR international standards (EN/IEC, AREMA), local power utility codes, and life-safety specifications for passenger facilities and enclosed depot halls (NFPA 70 / NFPA 130).2. Material & Equipment Approval

  • Technical Submittals: Evaluate Material Technical Submittals (MTS), vendor datasheets, compliance statements, and factory type-test reports against project specifications.

    
    
    

  • Equipment Auditing: Assess manufacturers for critical assets, including dry-type MV/LV transformers, gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), emergency diesel generators, industrial UPS units, and train shore-power supply equipment.

    
    
    

  • Sample & Mock-Up Inspection: Inspect physical samples, high-voltage cable terminations, and equipment mock-ups prior to bulk procurement.

    
    
    

  • Site Material Inspections (MIR): Conduct site inspections of delivered materials to confirm quality, proper storage, and compliance with approved documentation.

    
    
    
  3. Testing & Commissioning (T&C)

  • T&C Documentation: Review and approve Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), commissioning method statements, test schedules, and standard reporting protocols.

    
    
    

  • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT): Witness FAT at manufacturer facilities for major MV switchgear, transformers, protection relay panels, and specialized depot power units.

    
    
    

  • Site Acceptance Testing (SAT): Direct site pre-commissioning tests, including high-potential (Hi-Pot) cable testing, insulation resistance (megger), primary/secondary protection injection, and earth grid continuity tests.

    
    
    

  • Integrated System Testing (IST): Lead multi-system functional testing across facilities—including Automatic Transfer Schemes (ATS), emergency generator load pick-up, SCADA monitoring/control, fire alarm power shutoffs, and train shore-power interlocking systems.

    
    
    

  • Handover & Closeout: Manage technical punch lists, verify completion of remedial works, review final As-Built drawings and O&M manuals, and sign off on Commissioning Certificates.

    
    
    

Profile/Skills
Candidate Qualifications & ExperienceRequirementDetails
EducationBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Railway Systems Engineering.
LicensureProfessional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status preferred.
Experience10+ years of electrical engineering experience on large-scale transportation or industrial building projects.
Technical KnowledgeDeep understanding of MV distribution, Earthing & Bonding, Stray Current Mitigation, and emergency backup systems.
Software ProficiencyHands-on expertise in ETAP, DigSILENT PowerFactory, AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), and SKM PowerTools.
