Job Title: Head of Train Operations

Location: Cairo

Together, we combine strong local capabilities with proven global railway expertise to enable efficient, safe and sustainable passenger and freight mobility on Egypt’s first High Speed Rail network.

The role: The Head of Train Operations is responsible for leading, planning, and managing all train service operations, including high-speed, regional, and cargo services for the Egypt high-speed rail network. The role ensures services are delivered safely, reliably, on time, and in full compliance with regulatory, safety, and performance standards while supporting a world-class passenger and customer experience.

Your responsibilities:

• Report directly to the COO and provide regular updates on train operations.
• Ensure high-quality train operations that meet customer needs and expectations.
• Investigate critical incidents and accidents and identify areas for improvement.
• Ensure achievement of internal operational targets and relevant KPIs.
• Apply the Safety Management System and contribute to the further development of the Safety Program.
• Ensure accurate passenger information regarding train operations.
• Manage supervisors and team leaders for train drivers, train attendants, and yards in day-to-day activities.
• Ensure operational staff understand their responsibilities related to OH&S, environment, rail safety, and quality.
• Ensure operational staff are competent in performing their assigned tasks.
• Identify high-level training requirements, define necessary training content, and ensure successful completion.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or MBA in a relevant field, such as Rail Transportation Management or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in train operations or operational train control.
• Proven track record in leading railway staff in remote locations.
• Proven knowledge of compliance requirements and adherence to regulations and industry standards.
• Certification in Train Operations Management or a relevant area is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of railway safety, incident handling, operational train procedures, and basic rail maintenance practices.
• Experience using, updating, and monitoring train operation IT systems, such as TMS and/or TCMS.
• Proven leadership skills over distance and under high pressure.
• Strong time management, organizational, presentation, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
• Solution-oriented mindset with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced start-up environment and maintain a strong commitment to safety and quality.
