Job Description – Facilities Management Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Facilities Management Engineer to oversee the operation, maintenance, and efficient performance of building facilities and MEP systems. The role is responsible for ensuring that all technical systems, equipment, and building services operate safely, reliably, and efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and minimizing operational costs.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operation and maintenance of facility MEP systems.

• Supervise preventive and corrective maintenance activities.

• Oversee HVAC, electrical, plumbing, firefighting, generators, pumps, water systems, BMS, elevators, and other building services.

• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment and systems.

• Monitor equipment performance and identify potential failures before they occur.

• Coordinate emergency repairs and breakdown response.

• Supervise maintenance technicians, contractors, and specialized service providers.

• Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out safely and according to approved procedures.

• Review maintenance reports, work orders, inspection reports, and equipment records.

• Manage external contractors and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.

• Coordinate with suppliers for spare parts, equipment, and maintenance services.

• Monitor maintenance costs and assist in preparing annual maintenance budgets.

• Ensure adequate availability of critical spare parts and consumables.

• Conduct regular inspections of buildings, equipment, and technical areas.

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and fire-safety requirements.

• Maintain accurate records of equipment, maintenance history, warranties, and service contracts.

• Coordinate testing and commissioning of new equipment and systems.

• Support energy and utility management initiatives to reduce operational costs.

• Prepare periodic reports on facility performance, maintenance activities, breakdowns, and outstanding issues.

• Coordinate with management, tenants/users, contractors, consultants, and other departments to resolve facility-related issues.

• Ensure that all facilities remain operational and properly maintained.

Requirements

Technical Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

• Minimum 5–10 years of experience in facilities management, building maintenance, or MEP operations.

• Strong practical knowledge of:

  • HVAC systems

  • Electrical systems

  • Plumbing and water systems

  • Firefighting and fire alarm systems

  • Generators and UPS systems

  • Pumps and mechanical equipment

  • BMS and building automation

• Good understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance.

• Experience managing maintenance contractors and service agreements.

• Ability to read and understand MEP drawings and technical documentation.

• Good knowledge of maintenance planning and asset management.

• Strong knowledge of health and safety requirements.

Software & Technical Skills

• AutoCAD knowledge is preferred.

• MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.

• Experience with CMMS / CAFM maintenance management systems is an advantage.

• Knowledge of BMS platforms is an advantage.
