Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Steel Structure Engineer to join our engineering consultancy team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the analysis, design, and technical review of steel structures for various projects, ensuring compliance with applicable international codes, project specifications, and client requirements. The role involves coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, reviewing technical deliverables, and providing engineering solutions throughout the design and construction stages.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the structural analysis and design of steel structures for commercial, industrial, infrastructure, and other building projects.

  
  

• Prepare and review structural calculations, design reports, technical specifications, and structural drawings.

  
  

• Perform structural analysis and design of steel elements, including beams, columns, trusses, bracing systems, connections, and base plates.

  
  

• Ensure compliance with applicable design codes and standards, including AISC, ACI, ASCE, Eurocodes, and other relevant local regulations.

  
  

• Review steel fabrication and erection drawings, connection details, shop drawings, and technical submittals.

  
  

• Coordinate with architectural, civil, MEP, and other engineering disciplines to resolve design interfaces and clashes.

  
  

• Conduct technical reviews of structural designs prepared by team members and external consultants.

  
  

• Provide technical support during construction, including responding to RFIs, reviewing contractor submissions, and resolving structural design issues.

  
  

• Identify design risks, propose cost-effective structural solutions, and optimize steel tonnage without compromising safety or performance.

  
  

• Monitor design deliverables, project schedules, and quality standards.

  
  

• Mentor junior engineers and support the development of the structural engineering team.

  
  

• Participate in technical meetings with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.

  
  

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or Structural Engineering; a relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage.

  
  

• +10 years of relevant experience in structural engineering, with substantial experience in steel structure design.

  
  

• Previous experience working with an engineering consultancy firm is essential.

  
  

• Strong knowledge of structural analysis, steel design, connection design, and structural detailing.

  
  

• Experience with industrial buildings, warehouses, factories, commercial buildings, or other steel-intensive projects.

  
  

• Proficiency in structural engineering software such as:

  
  

  • STAAD.Pro

    
    

  • ETABS

    
    

  • SAP2000

    
    

  • Tekla Structural Designer

    
    

  • IDEA StatiCa or equivalent connection design software

    
    

• Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit is an advantage.

  
  

• Strong understanding of international structural design codes and standards.

  
  

• Experience reviewing technical submissions, calculations, shop drawings, and contractor documents.

  
  

• Excellent technical reporting, coordination, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  
  

• Ability to manage multiple design deliverables and meet project deadlines.
