Job description
The core responsibilities are:
- Lead the entire HSE function for the project.
- Manage HSE compliance of EPC contractors, subcontractors and Owner's Engineer.
- Conduct site inspections, audits and HSE performance monitoring.
- Manage the HSE risk register and mitigation measures.
- Control high-risk construction activities, especially heavy lifting, equipment logistics and commissioning activities.
- Implement Permit to Work / Safe System of Work during construction and commissioning.
- Lead incident and accident investigations and ensure corrective actions are closed.
- Develop HSE training, induction and emergency response programs.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits and ISO 45001 / ISO 14001.
- Deal with government authorities, contractors, consultants, partners and other stakeholders.
- Build and maintain a strong safety culture across a multicultural workforce.
Skills
Requirements
- Engineering/Science degree with NEBOSH or equivalent
- 15+ years HSE experience in power generation/renewable energy
- Experience in large-scale construction & commissioning projects ($1B+)
- Experience with heavy lifting, logistics and complex construction activities
- Experience in remote/hardship project locations
- Strong knowledge of ISO 45001/14001 and international HSE standards
- Experience in HSE risk management, audits, incident investigation and emergency response
- Strong contractor/subcontractor HSE management experience
- Excellent English communication and reporting skills
- Power/solar project experience preferred
- Hindi/Urdu preferred; Arabic desirable
