About the Role
Saudi Aramco is seeking an experienced Nonmetallic Engineering Specialist. This full-time role requires advanced knowledge and a strong technical background in polymer and composite materials, with applications in both the Oil and Gas (O&G) and Building and Construction (B&C) sectors. The specialist will support nonmetallic deployment, strategy implementation, and design review, while also maintaining and developing the company’s nonmetallic standards. This position involves providing technical support for company operations, new project development, and evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consultation, review capital projects, and introduce qualified nonmetallic products into engineering design packages.
- Support research and pilot projects aimed at enhancing unit performance.
- Develop new specifications and update existing standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Perform technical assessments of new vendor facilities, including qualification and approval, and conduct periodic assessments to maintain the regulated vendor list.
- Develop, introduce, and/or implement viable new nonmetallic technologies (*, for oil and gas, building and construction) within Saudi Aramco facilities.
- Lead or participate in specialized tasks such as incident investigation (*, failure analysis) teams, special audit teams, value engineering teams, and organizational improvement teams.
- Provide support in the design and construction of nonmetallic product systems (*, pipe, composite repair, structural components, lining).
- Act as a professional mentor to developing specialists and engineers.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree (an advanced degree is preferred) in Chemical, Materials, Polymers, or Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of 20 years of professional experience as an engineer in the field of nonmetallic materials, specifically within the oil and gas industry.
- Excellent knowledge of nonmetallic products (*, piping, tanks, valves, downhole tubulars, composite structures), including their qualification, testing, operation, technical support, and technology management. This includes expertise in thermoplastics and thermosets.
- In-depth knowledge of International Engineering Standards and Specifications.
Required Skills
- Strong technical background in polymer and composite materials.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-departmental teams.
- Demonstrated excellent technical writing and presentation skills.
- Affiliation with professional societies such as ASME, API, ISO, or NACE is highly desirable.
