Job Description – Safety Officer (HSE)

Job Summary

The Safety Officer is responsible for supporting and maintaining a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) requirements, identifying potential hazards, monitoring workplace safety, and promoting safe work practices to prevent incidents and accidents.

Job Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with HSE rules, regulations, and standards.
• Conduct risk assessments and identify workplace hazards.
• Ensure compliance with PPE requirements and safe work practices.
• Conduct site inspections and safety audits.
• Investigate incidents and accidents and prepare reports.
• Monitor emergency response procedures.
• Conduct toolbox talks and safety training.
• Identify unsafe acts and conditions and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate HSE records and documentation.

Skills

• Knowledge of HSE rules, regulations, and standards.
• Understanding of risk assessment and hazard identification.
• Knowledge of PPE requirements and safe work practices.
• Ability to conduct site inspections and safety audits.
• Knowledge of incident/accident investigation and reporting.
• Good understanding of emergency response procedures.
• Ability to conduct toolbox talks and safety training.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to identify unsafe acts/conditions and recommend corrective actions.
• Strong observation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate HSE records and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferably registered with the OSH Cadres prog
