Project Engineering Manager

About the Role

EHIF is seeking an experienced Project Engineering Manager to lead and coordinate small to mid-range projects within the fertilizers (phosphate, ammonia, urea) and mining & metals sectors (aluminum, gold, copper). This is a full-time, office-based position with a focus on engineering oversight, project planning, technical coordination, cost and schedule control, procurement support, and stakeholder alignment. The role requires 20 years of relevant experience.

Project Scope and Focus

This position manages projects through concept development, feasibility assessment, basic engineering, detailed design oversight, procurement follow-up, and preparation for execution. The primary objective is to ensure all engineering deliverables meet quality, cost, and schedule objectives. The role emphasizes office-driven project leadership and strong coordination between engineering teams, internal departments, and site representatives, rather than direct construction management. Occasional short site visits may be required for specific technical reviews.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage P&L with associated commercial and financial accountability, including revenue delivery, margin and overhead management, budget and forecast determination, risk and opportunity reviews, cost controls, accounts payable/billing, and cash collection.
• Contribute to and review project proposals and plans to determine timeframe, procedures, staffing requirements, and resource allocation.
• Negotiate changes to project scope or specifications with customers and follow the Change Management process for modifications.
• Pursue and develop opportunities for innovation, such as digitalization, technology use, work share, and high-value engineering centers.
• Establish project procedures and lead the production of project execution plans, including scope of work, deliverables list, master schedule, budget, organizational charts, and risk register.
• Report project progress regularly to senior management and/or customers.
• Ensure delivery of agreed schedule and financial performance, proactively intervening to prevent slippage.
• Lead ongoing focus on risk identification and mitigation during project execution.
• Be responsible for project HSSE leadership, ensuring a program of initiatives and auditing schedule are established, and that HSSE and quality management issues are proactively addressed.
• Guide and direct a multidiscipline project team, which may include external specialists and staff from multiple offices and sites.
• Ensure project team members are competent to carry out assigned duties.
• Promote and establish a performance improvement culture and actions on complex projects and within their supply chains.
• Facilitate the setup of information management systems/applications as applicable to suit various life phases of projects and manage the information management project team.
• Participate in assurance activities and peer reviews.
