PERFUME PRODUCT APPLICATIONS & FORMAT DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Location: Cairo, Egypt
Employment Type: Full-time
Workplace: Hybrid / Laboratory & product-development coordination
Indicative Salary: EGP 180,000–260,000 gross per month + performance component
Sector: Fine Fragrance | Perfume Applications | Essential Oils | Finished Product Development
Palomba General Trading LLC is seeking an experienced Perfume Product Applications & Format Development Manager to transform fragrance concentrates and aromatic systems into stable, commercially viable finished perfume products.
This role focuses on what happens after a fragrance formula exists.
The successful candidate should understand how to convert a fragrance concentrate into different market-ready formats such as:
- Eau de Parfum;
- Extrait de Parfum;
- alcohol-based perfumes;
- perfume oils;
- attars;
- body and hair fragrance formats;
- selected home-fragrance applications.
This is not a conventional perfumer role.
This is not a sales position.
This is a finished-product development role.
Take an approved fragrance concentrate and determine how it should perform as a finished product.
The Manager will coordinate:
fragrance concentrate → dosage → solvent system → maturation → filtration → stability → packaging compatibility → finished product.
The objective is simple enough for humans to complicate magnificently:
make the perfume smell right in the actual bottle, not only on a blotter in the laboratory.
- Develop finished perfume applications from fragrance concentrates.
- Determine appropriate fragrance dosage.
- Develop alcohol-based formulations.
- Develop oil-based formats.
- Support attar and concentrated perfume formats.
- Evaluate solvent systems.
- Coordinate maturation protocols.
- Define chilling and filtration requirements.
- Assess clarity and precipitation.
- Monitor colour changes.
- Evaluate finished-product stability.
- Investigate performance issues.
- Coordinate packaging compatibility.
- Support pilot batches.
- Prepare application specifications.
- Coordinate with perfumers and fragrance suppliers.
- Support scale-up from lab to pilot production.
- Troubleshoot finished perfume problems.
Relevant formats may include:
Alcohol-Based- Eau de Toilette
- Eau de Parfum
- Extrait de Parfum
- concentrated sprays
- perfume oils;
- attars;
- mukhallat-style products;
- roll-on fragrance formats.
Depending on projects:
- hair fragrance;
- body mist;
- scented oils;
- home fragrance.
The candidate should understand practical issues involving:
- ethanol quality;
- fragrance solubility;
- water content;
- co-solvents;
- clarity;
- precipitation;
- haze;
- viscosity;
- evaporation profile.
They should understand why the same fragrance can behave perfectly at one concentration and become an opaque chemical snow globe at another.
The Manager should have professional experience with:
- maturation time;
- temperature;
- settling;
- chilling;
- filtration;
- post-filtration evaluation.
The role should help define reproducible manufacturing procedures rather than relying on folklore about leaving a perfume in a dark cupboard until it feels emotionally ready.
Relevant testing may include:
- ambient stability;
- elevated temperature;
- cold storage;
- freeze-thaw where appropriate;
- light exposure;
- colour stability;
- odour stability;
- precipitation;
- package interaction.
The Manager should understand potential interaction with:
- glass;
- pumps;
- dip tubes;
- gaskets;
- caps;
- decorative coatings;
- liners.
Relevant problems can include:
- leakage;
- swelling;
- discolouration;
- evaporation;
- material degradation;
- fragrance interaction.
The candidate should evaluate:
- projection;
- diffusion;
- longevity;
- skin behaviour;
- blotter behaviour;
- fabric behaviour where relevant.
The finished product should preserve the intended fragrance character while meeting the desired performance profile.
&The role may work with natural materials including:
- bergamot;
- lemon;
- mandarin;
- orange;
- rose;
- patchouli;
- vetiver;
- cedarwood;
- frankincense;
- galbanum.
Natural materials can introduce challenges involving colour, oxidation, solubility and batch variation.
The candidate should understand these issues practically, not merely admire the botanical Latin on the specification sheet.
The Manager should be comfortable moving through:
lab sample → 1 kg → 5 kg → pilot batch → commercial-scale recommendation.
Relevant responsibilities include:
- order of addition;
- mixing;
- temperature;

- filtration;

- process reproducibility.
