To maintain competitive advantage as we grow, we are currently looking for a new Senior Accountant – Fixed Assets & Inventory

Job purpose:

Ensures the fixed assets of the UAE business – especially payment terminals placed at merchant locations – and its inventory of terminals, SIM cards and accessories are recorded accurately, tracked, depreciated and verified, so the balance sheet is correct and assets are safeguarded. Without this role terminals could be lost or left unrecorded, depreciation misstated, and stock shortages or write-offs go unnoticed.

Responsibilities:

• Fixed assets and CAPEX control: Maintains the fixed asset register in SAP (FI-AA): capitalisation under IAS 16 and IAS 38 (including software and development costs), assets under construction settlement, depreciation, transfers, disposals and impairment indicators under IAS 36. Tracks actual CAPEX against the approved budget by project (internal orders / WBS), reports variances and ensures timely capitalisation of completed projects.
• Leases: Accounts for leased assets and lease liabilities under IFRS 16.
• Terminal life-cycle tracking: Tracks payment terminals from purchase through stock, deployment at merchant sites, swaps, repairs and retrieval, reconciling the asset register with the terminal management system and Operations records.
• Inventory accounting: Records inventory of terminals, SIM cards, paper rolls and accessories, applies costing, reconciles stock to the ledger and provides for slow-moving, obsolete or lost items.
• Physical verification: Plans and leads periodic stock counts and asset verification, including sample checks of terminals at merchant locations, and investigates differences.
• Month-end close, reporting, tax and audit: Delivers closing entries and balance sheet reconciliations for inventory, fixed assets, leases, accruals and FX under IFRS (group) and applicable UAE statutory requirements. Prepares audit schedules for external and internal auditors, closes audit findings on time, and maintains related policies, procedures and internal controls.

Qualifications:

• Years of experience: 4–6 years in fixed asset or inventory accounting, preferably in payments, telecom, technology or retail (Must).
• Degree required: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (Must); a professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA or CMA (Preferred).
• Functional Knowledge: IFRS for property and equipment, leases and inventory; cost accounting, reconciliations and advanced Excel (Must)
• SAP System Knowledge: Hands-on experience with SAP asset accounting and materials management (Must)
• Language: Fluent English, both written and spoken, is essential (Must)
• Business Expertise: Payment terminal life cycle and logistics (Preferred)
