We're looking for driven, client-focused, and analytical students to join our Wealth Management Internship and gain hands-on experience in the portfolio management, financial planning, and client advisory work behind real wealth management practices.
About the Internship
As a Wealth Management Intern, you'll do realistic wealth management work inspired by real advisory firms: building client financial plans, constructing model portfolios, analyzing asset allocations, and preparing investment recommendations for mock clients.
You'll learn how wealth managers turn clients' goals, risk profiles, and market data into personalized financial plans and portfolios that grow and protect wealth over time.
Responsibilities
* Build mock client financial plans covering retirement, education, and major life goals.
* Construct model portfolios across asset classes matched to client risk profiles.
* Analyze asset allocation mixes and their expected risk/return characteristics.
* Prepare client onboarding profiles: goals, time horizons, and risk tolerance.
* Run retirement income projections and savings-gap analyses for mock clients.
* Analyze tax-efficient investing strategies for taxable mock accounts.
* Research individual securities, mutual funds, and ETFs for model portfolios.
* Prepare investment policy statements for mock client profiles.
* Model rebalancing trades and their impact on portfolio risk.
* Analyze estate and insurance planning basics for mock client scenarios.
* Prepare client review meeting packs with performance commentary.
* Benchmark mock portfolios against appropriate indices and peer groups.
* Evaluate annuities, trusts, and other wealth-transfer tools at a conceptual level.
* Analyze cash-flow planning for mock clients nearing retirement.
* Prepare fee and cost analyses comparing advisory fee structures.
* Model dollar-cost averaging, lump-sum, and withdrawal strategies.
* Research market and economic trends and summarize implications for mock clients.
* Analyze behavioral finance concepts and their effect on client decisions.
* Use AI tools to accelerate research, plan drafting, and client-ready writing.
* Present client recommendations with clear rationale and supporting evidence.
* Document assumptions and maintain audit-ready client files.
Requirements
* Current student or recent graduate in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
* Strong interest in wealth management, financial planning, and investing.
* Analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with data and deadlines.
* Strong spreadsheet skills (Excel or Google Sheets); formulas a must, modeling experience a plus.
* Good written and verbal communication skills, including explaining financial concepts clearly.
* Ability to build a clear, logical recommendation from client data and research.
* Interest in how advisors plan, invest, and guide clients through financial decisions.
* Familiarity with basic investment concepts (stocks, bonds, diversification) is a plus but not required.
* Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar platforms is a plus.
* Previous professional finance experience is not required.
What You'll Gain
* Hands-on experience doing wealth management work like real financial advisors.
* Practical experience building financial plans and model portfolios.
* Experience writing client-ready reports and investment recommendations.
* Understanding of asset allocation, diversification, and risk management frameworks.
* Experience presenting investment insights with supporting evidence.
* Understanding of retirement planning, tax-aware investing, and portfolio construction.
* Practical exposure to performance measurement and client reporting.
* Experience using AI and modern finance tools.
* Portfolio-ready wealth management projects.
* Personalized AI feedback on your work.
* Professional certificate upon successful completion.
* Mentorship and weekly learning sessions.
* Opportunity to strengthen your portfolio, resume, and interview readiness.
