What does the role actually mean?

Today, you apply your engineering expertise within a specific project or site. In this role, you’ll apply it at a broader level, understanding how construction companies operate, analyzing their processes and challenges, and working with them to improve how their operations are managed through a Construction Management Technology Platform.

You may already know engineers whose careers developed in a technology-focused direction, such as Planning Engineers working extensively with Primavera, or BIM professionals combining engineering knowledge with digital technology.

Construction Functional Consulting is another technology-focused career direction where your construction knowledge remains central to the job.

What will you do?

• Understand how their projects and operations are currently managed

• Analyze their processes and operational challenges

• Identify how a construction management system can support and improve their way of working

• Define what the system needs to achieve from a construction and business perspective

• Guide client teams in adopting and using the solution effectively

• So you’re not moving away from engineering. You’re becoming the construction expert who connects industry needs, business processes, and technology.

Who could be a good fit?

Whether you’re a Site Engineer, or Technical Office Engineer, or QS Engineer, or Cost Control Engineer, or Planning Engineer, or in another construction-related role, your experience could be relevant. We’re not looking for someone who has worked in all these areas.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering

• 2–5 years of practical experience in the construction industry

• Strong practical understanding of how construction projects operate

• Good communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills

• Good command of English and proficiency in MS Excel

• Are interested in technology and how it can improve construction operations

• Are interested in developing into a client-facing consulting role

• Previous exposure to ERP or construction management technology can be useful, but it is not a requirement.
