About this role

We are seeking a detail-oriented trade compliance analyst to support second-line sanctions screening activities by validating and investigating escalations from first-line screening. The role focuses on determining whether potential matches are false positives or confirmed risks, conducting thorough due diligence, assessing regulatory restrictions, and recommending appropriate compliance actions. This position plays a vital role in strengthening the compliance framework, mitigating risk, and ensuring adherence to global sanctions and export control regulations.

What you’ll do

  • Review escalations received from the first line, analysing data accuracy, transaction details and contextual factors to confirm potential matches.
  • Conduct detailed due diligence on target entities, including ownership and control structures, and produce accurate organigrams.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to gather and validate relevant information on entities and transactions.
  • Perform regulatory analysis for confirmed matches, reviewing applicable sanctions and export control frameworks to assess restrictions or licensing requirements.
  • Take appropriate follow-up actions in line with company guidance, including raising further queries where required.
  • Escalate confirmed risks to the Trade Sanctions Screening Centre of Excellence lead for decision-making.
  • Clearly document all assessments, findings and decisions to ensure auditability and transparency.
  • Oversee first-line screening activities to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of compliance cases.
  • Stay informed about updates to global sanctions lists, including OFAC, EU and UN lists, and regulatory changes.
  • Support continuous improvement of trade compliance screening processes.
  • Execute data control processes to maintain accuracy, completeness and compliance with standards.
  • Resolve queries efficiently and maintain up-to-date records in relevant systems.
  • Carry out additional tasks as required to support business needs.

Who you are

  • Experienced in compliance, risk management or investigative roles, typically with 3–5 years of experience.
  • Knowledgeable about export controls and global sanctions regulatory frameworks.
  • Skilled in conducting in-depth due diligence on complex organisational structures to determine ownership and control.
  • Confident in interpreting legal and regulatory requirements and assessing associated risks.
  • Strong in analytical and critical thinking.
  • An effective communicator who can collaborate across teams.
