Chemist General Job Objective 1) Conduct chemical and physical analyses and tests for raw materials, mixtures, glass, and the final product, and issue accurate results that support acceptance, operational, and quality decisions. 2) Monitor the stability of composition, color, and properties, detect deviations early, and ensure the safety of chemicals, laboratory equipment, records, and samples. Scope of Responsibility 1) Silica sand, sodium carbonate, limestone, dolomite, feldspar, additives, colorants, decolorizers, cullet, mixture, and product. 2) Execute analyses according to approved methods and clear validity limits, and do not approve raw materials or change compositions or specifications without documented authorization. Key Responsibilities and Tasks 1) Collect or receive samples and verify their identification, representation, preservation, and tracking in accordance with the inspection plan. 2) Perform analyses and tests, record results, review them, and compare them with specifications and control limits. 3) Immediately inform production and quality of critical or non-conforming results and participate in determining the appropriate action. 4) Monitor laboratory equipment, calibration, standard materials, reagents, inventory, and safety of use and disposal. 5) Prepare reports and certificates of analysis, analyze trends, and participate in investigations and continuous improvement. Qualifications and Experience 1) Qualification: Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, or equivalent. 2) Experience: Two to four years in an industrial laboratory, preferably in the glass, ceramic, or raw materials industry. 3) Knowledge of glass chemistry fundamentals, sampling, analytical methods, quality control, and chemical safety. 4) Proficiency in using available laboratory equipment, Office software, and ERP or LIMS systems if available. 5) Training in ISO 9001 or ISO/IEC 17025, SDS, and non-conformity investigation is preferred. 6) Proficiency in the English language is one of the most essential and required qualifications.
