Chemist General Job Objective 1) Conduct chemical and physical analyses and tests for raw materials, mixtures, glass, and final products, and issue accurate results that support acceptance, operational, and quality decisions. 2) Monitor the stability of composition, color, and properties, detect deviations early, and ensure the safety of chemicals, laboratory equipment, records, and samples. Scope of Responsibility 1) Silica sand, sodium carbonate, limestone, dolomite, feldspar, additives, colorants, decolorizers, cullet, mixture, and product. 2) Perform analyses according to approved methods and clear validity limits, and do not approve materials or change formulas or specifications without documented authorization. Key Responsibilities and Tasks 1) Collect or receive samples and verify their identification, representation, storage, and tracking in accordance with the inspection plan. 2) Conduct analyses and tests, record results, review them, and compare them with specifications and control limits. 3) Immediately inform production and quality departments of critical or non-conforming results and participate in determining appropriate actions. 4) Monitor laboratory equipment, calibration, standard materials, reagents, inventory, and safety of use and disposal. 5) Prepare reports and certificates of analysis, analyze trends, and participate in investigations and continuous improvement. Qualifications and Experience 1) Qualification: Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, or equivalent. 2) Experience: Two to four years in an industrial laboratory, preferably in the glass, ceramic, or raw materials industry. 3) Knowledge of glass chemistry basics, sampling, analysis methods, quality control, and chemical safety. 4) Proficiency in using available laboratory equipment, Office programs, and ERP or LIMS systems when available. 5) Training in ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025, SDS, and non-conformity investigation is preferred. 6) Proficiency in the English language is one of the most important essential and required qualifications.
