About the Role

The European Union Delegation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is seeking a Strategic Communication Officer. This position is within the Delegation’s Political, Press and Information section and is offered as a fixed-term employment contract for 2 years, with potential for renewal based on budgetary availability and operational needs. The role is based in Saudi Arabia and involves occasional atypical working hours.

Role Context and Supervision

The successful candidate will operate under the supervision of the EU Delegation’s Head of Political, Press and Information Section. Responsibilities will adapt to the evolving needs of the EU Delegation, providing support, expertise, and assistance in communications, press relations, and online presence. The Political, Press and Information section currently comprises a team of 8 individuals.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Delegation in conducting information, communication, and media activities to enhance the visibility and understanding of the EU in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sultanate of Oman, and Kingdom of Bahrain, including speech-writing.
• Contribute to the drafting and implementation of the Delegation's social media strategy.
• Support the drafting and dissemination of proactive messaging aligned with the communication strategies of the Delegation and EEAS Headquarters.
• Analyze trends and developments in the information environment across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sultanate of Oman, and Kingdom of Bahrain, including emerging narratives and Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI).
• Provide recommendations to improve understanding of the EU and its policies through fact-based information and proactive communication.
• Design, implement, and coordinate campaigns, local outreach events, and communications projects on specific issues and priorities, including media relations concerning the EU and its partnerships with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sultanate of Oman, and Kingdom of Bahrain.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Head of Delegation and the Head of the Political, Press and Information Section.
• Provide occasional support and act as a backup for the Press and Information Officer, collaborating closely with them.
• Contribute to political reporting.

Required Experience

Candidates should possess 5-10 years of relevant employment experience in communications, press, or online presence. The base salary will be determined by verified experience, typically starting from 20,473 SAR monthly.
