About the role

Habitat Mattresses is seeking a strong, decisive Production Manager to oversee the production floor and efficiently manage a large workforce and technical team. The ideal candidate can maintain discipline, direct workers, resolve problems promptly on the factory floor, meet daily production targets, uphold the highest quality standards, and reduce waste.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain discipline on the production floor: Ensure workers and technicians follow shift schedules, working hours, and occupational health and safety procedures.

• Plan and execute production: Turn management and sales targets into daily and weekly operating plans across all production lines, including spring manufacturing, foam cutting and shaping, sewing, tape edging, and packaging.

• Monitor quality: Enforce strict quality checks at every stage of production and ensure finished products meet Habitat’s standards.

• Manage costs and reduce waste: Closely monitor raw-material consumption and implement measures to reduce waste in fabric, foam, and other supplies.

• Coordinate and solve problems: Work closely with Maintenance to minimize machine breakdowns and with Warehousing to ensure a smooth flow of materials and prevent production delays.

• Evaluate performance: Prepare regular daily and weekly reports on production volumes, machine efficiency, and worker and supervisor performance.

Requirements

Qualifications and requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Production Engineering, or another relevant higher-education qualification combined with strong industrial experience.

• Experience: At least 5–8 years of experience managing factory production. Experience in mattress, furniture, or textile manufacturing is strongly preferred.

• Personal qualities: Strong and decisive leadership; excellent conflict-management skills; the ability to manage large teams and work under pressure to meet demanding delivery schedules.

• Thorough knowledge of production management systems, cost accounting, and ERP applications.
