The role:

The Traction Power Controller is responsible for the real-time monitoring, control, and coordination of the high-speed rail traction power supply network, including substations, overhead catenary systems, feeder stations, and related electrical infrastructure. The role ensures safe and reliable power availability by coordinating operational, maintenance, and emergency activities with relevant control desks, field teams, and local power suppliers.

Your responsibilities:

• Monitor the status and performance of the Traction Power Control system in real time.
• Implement ad hoc measures during emergencies related to traction power.
• Manage Master Terminal Units, remote client workstations, HMI display screens, video walls, and interfaces with field equipment.
• Coordinate with Rail Traffic Control on outages and maintenance activities requiring de-energization or re-energization.
• Coordinate with local power suppliers regarding power shortages and service recovery.
• Coordinate with Rail Corridor Access on activities requiring access and possible de-energization or re-energization.
• Coordinate with the Safety and Security Desk, station teams, and Traffic Control on emergency requirements and de-energization needs.
• Monitor the dedicated SCADA system and initiate mitigation measures when required.
• Notify OCC staff of faults or incidents affecting normal operations.
• Record traction power control incidents in the Incident Control Log System.

Your profile/ qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in traction power systems or a similar role.
• Certification in traction power systems or electrical engineering is preferred.
• Knowledge of traction power equipment, substations, overhead catenary systems, power distribution, and power system protection.
• Affinity with railway electrification and a general understanding of railway operations.
• Strong commitment to safety and the ability to work reliably under pressure.
• Solution-oriented approach with the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, start-up environment.
• Strong client orientation and a responsive working style.
• Effective communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex issues.
• Fluent written and spoken English and Arabic, with a willingness to learn and apply DB standards.
