Role Description

As an SAP FICO Lead, you will lead the design, configuration, and delivery of SAP Finance and Controlling solutions, with a strong focus on Product Costing. You will guide functional teams and collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure robust costing structures, accurate financial reporting, and seamless integration with manufacturing and inventory processes. This role combines deep SAP FICO expertise with solution ownership, team leadership, and the ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable SAP solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing

Core Responsibilities

• Lead workshops with business stakeholders, finance leaders, and controlling teams to gather, challenge, and translate business requirements into effective SAP FICO solutions, particularly in manufacturing environments.
• Own the functional design and configuration of key SAP FICO components, including GL, AP, AR, AA, CCA, and PCA, with a strong focus on Product Costing and Cost Object Controlling, including standard costing, actual costing, and variance analysis.
• Lead integration design across product costing, MM, PP, and inventory valuation, including Material Ledger and Actual Costing scenarios where applicable.
• Oversee and resolve complex month-end closing and period-end issues related to WIP calculation, overhead application, settlement, and cost allocations.
• Lead CO-PA design and reporting to support profitability analysis by product, region, customer, and other relevant business dimensions.
• Drive SAP FICO implementation, rollout, enhancement, and optimization initiatives, ensuring sound cost control, accurate cost flows, and alignment with business objectives.
• Review and approve functional specifications, process flows, solution designs, configuration documentation, and training materials to ensure quality and consistency.
• Mentor and guide SAP FICO consultants, share best practices, and support knowledge transfer and training for finance, plant controlling, and operations teams.
• Coordinate with technical teams and other SAP workstreams on custom developments, reports, interfaces, and cross-module dependencies related to finance and cost accounting.
• Ensure solutions comply with internal controls, audit requirements, financial policies, project governance, and SAP best practices, particularly for costing and inventory valuation.
• Provide functional leadership on SAP S/4HANA Finance developments and recommend improvements in product costing, controlling, and finance processes.

Experience & Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Typically 7+ years of SAP FICO experience, including substantial hands-on experience in Product Costing and responsibility for leading functional delivery.
• Expert knowledge of SAP Cost Object Controlling, Product Cost Planning, Cost Center Accounting, and relevant SAP FICO integration points.
• Strong experience with standard costing, variance analysis, WIP, settlement, overhead calculation, and period-end closing processes.
• Extensive practical knowledge of SAP integration with MM and PP, especially from a product costing and inventory valuation perspective.
• Strong experience with Material Ledger and Actual Costing; SAP S/4HANA Finance experience is highly desirable.
• Experience leading at least one full-cycle SAP implementation or rollout with significant Product Costing scope.
• Strong understanding of financial accounting, controlling structures, manufacturing processes, and inventory valuation.
• SAP FICO certification is preferred; additional SAP S/4HANA Finance certification is a plus.
• Exposure to Funds Management and Treasury Management is an advantage.
