You make the work with your own hands first and lead the Cairo design studio as it grows. Day one you are the strongest designer in the Cairo branch; by month twelve you are the person every design file passes through before a client sees it.

Reports to: the Managing Director, Digiturnal Egypt, with a dotted line to the Creative Director in Doha.

What you own

• Hands-on design on the biggest projects: brand identities, campaign key visuals, social template systems, presentations and pitch decks, printables, retail and kiosk graphics, landing-page design with the web team.
• The visual standard: one design QC checklist, one file and naming structure, one toolkit per retained client (type, colour, grids, templates, export presets). You review every design file before the account manager sees it.
• Bilingual craft: Arabic and English typography, right-to-left layouts, bilingual lockups, Arabic typeface selection and typesetting.
• Art direction of photo shoots and retouching: references, shot lists, on-set direction when in Doha, selects and retouch notes.
• Estimating your own work and your team's in Sunday grooming, and hitting the estimate.
• Mentoring the junior designers through a weekly crit, and building the Cairo studio: writing the briefs for the next designers, running their trial tasks, onboarding them to the standard you set.

First 90 days

• Audit every retained client's existing assets; deliver a toolkit for the five largest.
• Publish the design QC checklist and the file structure; every new file follows it from week six.
• Ship at least one identity or campaign key visual end to end, presented to the client by you.
• Run the weekly crit; the account managers can name what changed in the work.

Twelve months means: design returns from account managers and clients cut by half against today's count; every retained client has a toolkit; two to three Cairo designers hired by you and productive; the first Egyptian client's identity shipped from Cairo.

You must have

• 7+ years in design, at least 2 as an art director, in agencies or studios whose clients you can name.
• A portfolio of identity systems and campaign toolkits across print, digital and retail, with your role on each stated.
• Arabic typography at a professional level: you have set Arabic type for a brand, chosen the typeface, and can explain the choice.
• Figma, Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop at speed; After Effects for simple motion; print production: CMYK, pre-press, dielines, large format.
• Experience art-directing a photographer and briefing a retoucher.
• Evidence of having raised other designers' work, not only your own.
• Fluent Arabic and professional English, written and spoken.

Strong plus: Gulf brands or agencies in your history; motion design beyond basics; environmental and exhibition graphics; a Behance or site that is current.
