Job Description – Financial Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Financial Manager with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in construction and contracting companies. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the company's financial operations, financial planning, cash flow, budgeting, reporting, cost control, and financial compliance.

The candidate must have strong experience in project-based accounting, construction costing, contractor/subcontractor accounts, project cash flow, client receivables, and contract financial management.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the company's overall financial and accounting operations.

• Prepare and monitor annual budgets, financial forecasts, and cash-flow projections.

• Monitor the financial performance and profitability of individual construction projects.

• Establish and monitor project budgets and cost-control systems.

• Analyze project costs against budgets and identify variances and corrective actions.

• Monitor accounts receivable and client collections, including retention amounts and outstanding payments.

• Monitor accounts payable, supplier balances, subcontractor payments, and payment schedules.

• Review project costs, revenues, variations, claims, and certified payments.

• Coordinate with the Projects and Commercial departments regarding project financial performance.

• Monitor contractor and subcontractor financial obligations and accounts.

• Prepare monthly and periodic financial statements and management reports.

• Provide management with financial analysis and recommendations to support business decisions.

• Monitor the company's working capital and liquidity position.

• Manage and forecast project and company-wide cash flow.

• Coordinate with banks regarding facilities, guarantees, letters of credit, and other financial requirements.

• Monitor bank reconciliations and cash positions.

• Supervise accounting staff and ensure accurate and timely recording of transactions.

• Ensure proper implementation of accounting policies and internal financial controls.

• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, banks, and other financial institutions.

• Ensure compliance with applicable Egyptian accounting, tax, and financial regulations.

• Review payroll, expenses, supplier invoices, and payment approvals.

• Monitor fixed assets and company financial resources.

• Identify financial risks and implement appropriate controls.

• Support management in evaluating new projects, tenders, investments, and major contracts.

• Participate in financial negotiations with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.

• Ensure proper documentation and financial controls throughout the project lifecycle.

Construction-Specific Responsibilities

The candidate should have strong practical experience with:

• Project accounting and job costing

• Construction project budgets and cost control

• Client invoices and payment certificates

• Retention and advance payments

• Subcontractor and supplier accounts

• Project cash-flow forecasting

• Variations and change orders

• Claims and contractual financial matters

• Work-in-progress (WIP) accounting

• Project profitability analysis

• Cost-to-complete (CTC) analysis

• Overhead allocation

• Tender/project financial evaluation

• Construction contract revenue and cost recognition

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.

• Minimum 7 years of professional experience, with significant experience in construction and contracting companies.

• Strong understanding of construction/project accounting.

• Previous experience managing or supervising an accounting/finance team.

• Excellent knowledge of Excel and financial reporting systems.

• Experience with ERP/accounting software is required; knowledge of construction ERP systems is an advantage.

• Strong knowledge of Egyptian tax and accounting requirements.

• Excellent analytical and financial management skills.

• Strong English communication skills.

Preferred Certifications

Candidates with any of the following qualifications are preferred:

• CPA

• CMA

• ACCA

• CFA

• Other relevant professional accounting or finance qualifications.
