Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, maintaining, securing, and optimizing the organization's databases to ensure high availability, reliability, and performance.

The DBA will work closely with development, infrastructure, and IT teams to support business applications, troubleshoot database-related issues, and implement best practices for database management.

Key Responsibilities

Install, configure, administer, and maintain database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.

Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance optimization solutions.

Manage database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures to ensure business continuity.

Ensure database security, data integrity, and compliance with organizational policies.

Perform database upgrades, patching, migrations, and regular maintenance activities.

Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents, errors, and performance issues.

Manage user accounts, database permissions, and access controls.

Develop and maintain database documentation, procedures, and operational standards.

Support database high availability, replication, and failover configurations.

Collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and infrastructure teams.

Plan database capacity and ensure scalability to meet business growth.

Automate routine database administration tasks using SQL scripts and other tools.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

3–5+ years of experience in database administration or a similar technical role.

Strong knowledge of at least one major database platform (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL).

Proficiency in SQL queries, stored procedures, database troubleshooting, and performance tuning.

Hands-on experience with database backup, restoration, and disaster recovery.

Good understanding of database security, indexing, replication, and high availability.

Familiarity with Windows and/or Linux operating systems.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with cloud database services such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, or Amazon Aurora.

Knowledge of database automation and scripting using PowerShell, Python, or Bash.

Experience with database monitoring and performance management tools.

Familiarity with database migration projects and cloud environments.

Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Azure Database Administrator, Oracle Database Certification, or AWS Certified Database – Specialty (where applicable).
